My school has a goal of having our students show PRIDE everyday through our PBIS program. PBIS, Positive Behavioral Interventional Supports, has been established by the Office of Special Education Programs, US Department of Education to give schools capacity-building information and technical assistance for identifying, adapting, and sustaining effective school wide disciplinary practices.
Intelligence plus character, that is the goal of true education -Dr Martin Luther King Jr.
In our school students show PRIDE through Participation, Respect, Integrity, Dignity, and Effort. For the continued success of our school wide PBIS program it is critical that we reward our students for making the daily choice to show PRIDE. The rewards and incentives I am requesting include smencil colored pencils, bendable pencils, squishy stress relief objects, puzzle eraser toys, and a few other high interest items that will be used to continue to promote the positive choices students make.
In my classroom I generally see groups of students for 30 minutes at a time. For every ten sessions where students show PRIDE they are rewarded with one of the incentives. Students track their positive sessions and excitedly count down until their next earned reward. Having a variety of things to choose from keeps them invested and allows us to stay focused and meet our academic goals.
Please consider helping me recognize these students for their daily choice to put their learning first by demonstrating PRIDE behaviors. Great things happen in our school because of generous people like you!
