Coding Time is Family Time
Funded Feb 10, 2017We have been having so much fun with our new technology. The kids have been learning the basics of coding and using he technology to master the California Common Core Standards. The Code-a-pillar has been used help the students learn how to code and program. The Osmo kits have tons of different games and apps to help with reading, writing, math and coding too. Once the student became comfortable with the products, we invited their families to come learn too. It's a wonderful experience to watch the families interact and have a blast learning together. We have been using all of these nonstop and can't wait to introduce these to my little one next year and for years to come. Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity!!!!”

Funded Aug 25, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donation! We have been using our computer nonstop since the day it arrived. We have been learning all sorts of computer programming skills by coding games that are available on Code.org. We have been learning math and problem solving too. Now that we have become quite proficient at the basics, we have been able to program our robots. We make a final destination and then have to figure out how to get there using our coding skills. There is a lot of trail and error but we are slowly learning and growing our dendrites. WE can't thank you enough for the great opportunities you have given us with this kind donation. Thanks again!”

Funded Aug 30, 2016Thank you so much for your generous donation! We absolutely love to stay ACTIVE with all our new materials. We play outside almost everyday. The best thing about these materials is that they can be used indoors too for those days when the sun is too harsh or it's raining. Our favorite by far is the bowling set. We have to bowl first and then identify which letters pins we dropped. If we get them correct, we get to keep them. But, if we get them wrong we have to pick them up again and let someone else try. These great materials are helping us learn so much. I hope to continue to learn and grow.”

Funded May 10, 2016I cannot even begin to describe the buzz our robots have created. The first day I introduced these magnificent items, they literally squealed with delight. They were so excited to have them in our class and wanted to touch them immediately and figure out how they work. We have been practicing our coding as a whole group figuring out how to get Rosie the Robot to different spots in the room. The students have been picking up on how to code very easily. Eventually we will use the robots in teams and individually. Using Dottie the Dot Robot wasn't as exciting for them since it is not mobile but has been really wonderful watching them come up with different light sequences and testing it out on their robot. All these are skills that will lead to computer programming. As Hour of Code grows near, I am excited to see how much more my little ones can learn. Thanks so much for the donation you provided that will allow my students a great start to this very exciting, new subject matter.”

Financially Literate at Age 5
Funded Jul 31, 2015I cannot thank you enough fro your kind donation! My students have been having a blast sticking to a budget. I placed all of our new materials as one of their centers. At least once a week, the children play restaurant or market. They begin by choosing a cashier or waitress and then viewing the menu or specials. It is so great to watch them pick and choose their items so carefully since they need to stick to their budget. They order and pay what they have. The cashier then decides whether they need change, have just enough or are overspending. We are currently learning coins. I can't wait to watch them really solidify their learning. Thanks again!!!”

Art Supplies for my Transitional Kinder Cuties (TK)
Funded Feb 19, 2015Thank you so much for your generous donation! The arts are usually neglected by many. It is difficult to prioritize the many standards that kindergarteners must learn and place art at the top. After not finding the time to complete art projects, I decided to make a change. I began using art to teach the core curriculum and I found that the children not only enjoyed themselves more but they we retaining new information a lot more easily. This project has really helped the students' imagination flourish. We were so excited to open up all our materials and start discussing all the great projects we could make during free time. We began using the play-doh on Day 1. We began creating letters and making all sorts of things that begin with the letter of the week. We later made self-portraits and learned about mixing colors. Soon we were using our art supplies almost everyday. Thanks again for helping to make this happen.”

Funded Apr 7, 2015Thank you so much for your kind donation. My students were so excited when the boxes arrived. It was like it was Christmas. We began using our materials right away. I had already begun teaching basic addition, subtraction, and money concepts so they are ready to learn financial literacy from the start. We discussed the difference between wants and needs and how to stay on a budget. We had huge conversation about negotiating between foods based on prices. We learned about how to be frugal and have a balanced meal. We later learned about savings, as well. Most children want to spend every cent but eventually began to understand that they could purchase more expensive items if they would save a little bit each visit. My students are off to a great financial future. Thanks again!”

Learning with Play-Doh for the TK Kinder Cuties
Funded Nov 5, 2014Thank you so much for your kind generosity. Your contribution has helped my students learn their letters and art. Week after week they make the letters, make something that begins with the letter and even are beginning to write words. This media has really helped motivate them to learn. The kinesthetic learning they do has helped the learning really stick. Because they need to carefully form the letters so that it is a direct representation they really focus and put forth the effort to learn it. Thanks again for helping my Kinder babies get the supplemental materials that have helped them grow.”

Funded Jan 22, 2014Thank you so much for your kind donations. My students were so excited to begin using all our physical education resources. I taught the students how to use each resource first and I couldn't believe that my students had no idea how to use the streamers, balls, bean bags and scooters. They are so happy to be able to have our active play time every week. It has helped to motivate them to complete their work as well. They come to school telling me about how they taught their parents some of the games we play and stay active throughout the weekend. Thanks again for helping my students recognize the importance of being healthy and fit!”

Funded Apr 15, 2014Thank you so much for your kind donations! My students already began using the iPad to learn about letters, numbers, high frequency words and create stories. I began using the laptop to upload photos for their digital scrapbooks. I have also began to show my students educational videos that have helped them learn rhymes and songs that will help them grow towards mastering kindergarten skills. We can't wait until the end of the year celebration when we will be able to showcase all the skills the children have learned through our new technology.”
