Here in Athens, Texas, we are focused on innovative learning throughout our whole district. Home of the 4-day instructional week, our goal is to create a love for learning in each and every student. We provide our students with a safe and loving environment to learn each day. One of the best ways to learn is through READING. My third graders LOVE to sit and listen to a book read aloud and my hope is to create a love in their hearts for listening to books, reading them on their own, and being able to fully immerse themselves in a book. My classroom is an environment where students are full of energy and enthusiasm for each and every school day. I am creating a place enriched by an abundance of books, words, letters, numbers, and other tools for learning.I have created a project full of books to help grow the love of reading in my third grade students. The project only has books (and one bookshelf). Books on a range of levels in order to spark interest for various students and help bring together the gap that COVID has created in our students’ learning. One of the most important things that a teacher can do for their students is to make literacy a part of their daily school life. Not only are these books great for growing a love of reading, many of them are social emotional books to grow them in who they are as little people! My job is to help students love reading, promote self-confidence and growth, and to show these firecrackers they can do anything they put their minds to! Lastly, we will need a home for all of our wonderful books to live which is why I have included a bookshelf.
