  • Scholastic News Helps Young Readers Connect

    Funded Oct 3, 2024

Thank you so much for your generous donation. I can’t wait to start using these with my students so that they have high-interest reading material that connects them to the world around them! These magazines will help build reading fluency and continue to make reading fun. We really appreciate your donation!”

  • We Need a Soft Space to Work on the Floor!

    Funded Sep 11, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation to our classroom. This new rug was an instant hit and my kids want to do their work on it every chance they get. The first step to our day is holding a morning meeting. Before this rug came to us, the kids stood throughout the meeting. Now, they form a circle around the rug and have the option to stand or sit down comfortably. During any independent work time, the rug is full of students working. This has given them an opportunity to give their bodies what they need: sitting down, laying down, working with a clipboard, etc. I also love the color and warmth it brings to our space. Thank you again. This is definitely something I could not have afforded without your help.”

  • Kindergarteners Work Best Through Hands-on Learning

    Funded Jan 31, 2019

Thank you so much for your generosity! The numbered ice cream scoops have really helped my students that were struggling with number sense and recognizing numbers one through ten. My students were instantly excited to use them! We have also used the sight word game to reinforce the first 100 sight words to get us ready for first grade. My students have loved making words in a different way and it has helped with not only making and reading these words, but also with letter recognition. Thank you again!”

  • Math Manipulatives

    Funded Oct 20, 2015

Thank you so much for your generous donations towards our classroom's math manipulatives. I am fortunate enough to have a class of students that love math and these added manipulatives have made them love math even more. We have been working really hard at addition and subtraction facts up to 20 and many of these manipulatives have been incorporated into our daily math centers to help strengthen those skills. We have created patterns, learned and played with new shapes, and used the magnetic board in small groups. I love having hands-on activities as much as possible in my classroom and you have all made this much more possible. Thank you!”

  • TIME Magazine For Kids

    Funded Oct 16, 2015

I cannot thank you enough for this generous donation. We have used three of the magazines already and we love them! My students love looking at the cover and predicting what the stories inside will be about. I love that the magazines are at a level that they can understand and have pictures that completely capture their interest. I also didn't realize that every magazine includes a worksheet to go with what they've just learned! That added piece really helps to make sure that they have taken in the information that we have just read.

Reading Scholastic News has become part of our weekly routine. My class looks forward to bringing them home every week and a few of them have come back in on Monday and told me about how they read the stories to their parents. Thank you for helping me get literacy to not only be more prevalent in my classroom, but brought in to my student's homes as well.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Dekermandjian

  • Leveled Books for Emerging Readers

    Funded Jul 7, 2015

Words cannot begin to express my gratitude for your help in building our classroom library. When the box arrived, we went through the entire package together as a class. My students were so excited to see books that they recognized and most that were brand new to them. Not only did this pack of books fill my library with books for us to read and discuss together, it also gave them a ton of books to read independently.

Every morning, we have independent reading time. The following Monday morning when I had all of the books leveled and in their own bins, the kids were thrilled to check out all of the new titles. The leveled books have really pushed my students to work on becoming better readers because they can't wait to move up to the next level and see what books are waiting for them in that bin. I have noticed a huge improvement in their focus during reading time and they are so determined to be able to read the harder books.

I make every effort to instill a love of reading because I am an avid reader myself and each of you has made my job a little easier. Every time I look at our library, I am in shock at how much you all cared about making my classroom a better place. I am beyond thankful.

With every ounce of my heart and my 28 little ones,

    Thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Dekermandjian
