  • Amazing Listening Center Books!

    Funded Oct 17, 2021

Imagine having no one at home having the ability to sit and read to you or not having any books at all to read.

The listening center books you have helped provide my little scholars has helped bring literature to life for them. To hear them attempt to read along or imitate the reader with expression and intonation was a lot of fun and warmed my heart. Thank you from all of us for opening a whole new world through audio books-old style. This helped instill a love of reading and develop lifelong readers.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Danford

  • Books, Food for the Brain

    Funded Sep 4, 2021

My students and I love reading the books that you so generously donated to our kindergarten class. Working in an inner-city, high poverty school means that my students don't have access to books. They love getting these books to use whether it be in class or at home.

Not only do my kindergarten students take some of the books home, but they also read the books during small group instruction and use the books for center time.

The good reading habits and rich literature that my students are exposed to today, will help create life long learners and readers.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Danford

  • Seat Sacks for Super Scholars

    Funded Jul 27, 2021

I want to say Thank You for your generous donation to my project "Seat Sacks for Super Scholars." My kindergarten students sit at tables meant for six students at a time. As a result, they do not have anywhere to store their daily supplies like copybooks, workbooks, papers, folders, etc...

You can see, that the seat sacks give my students added storage that is easily accessible without them having to get up from their seats. It also gives them the opportunity to practice organizational skills at a young age.

Thank you again for supporting this project!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Danford

These sturdy chair pockets not only help students organize their materials, they also help the teacher to color-code groups for easier classroom management. They also have clear plastic sleeves for name tags so they can learn who their classmates are. Seat sacks will allow students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. At the end of independent work times they will have a location in the classroom to place their materials and completed work. Students in my kindergarten class sit at tables of six students. They do not have individualized desks. They won't have to be concerned about placing their supplies in group bins or community containers. They will have their individual supplies in their chair pockets. No cross contamination especially after coming off a school year where we weren't allowed to share school supplies. These chair pockets will also add additional storage to our classroom. Currently, making sure students have essential supplies and materials, is an essential component in helping them to learn to be organized while working. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when have their belongings with them at their seats. They almost always are more engaged, and get more work completed when they are just sitting at their desk with all they necessary tools to complete their work.
