• Social Studies and ELA for Everyone

  I am so grateful to the State Department of Education and other donors to fund the materials for my classroom. When the students helped me open the boxes I could see the excitement on their faces. I am looking forward to using MetaQuest 2 in ways that will engage my students and take them back into the time period to make social studies come to life. Several students ask daily how they will get to use it next.

  Using the costumes to bring the 1500-1800's to life will not only be fun for the students but also for me as I love bringing my love for theatre back to my students. Students will enjoy creating their own speeches, and other persuasive writings with the costumes and other hands-on materials. I can't wait to post follow-up photos as we get more into our Social Studies standards throughout the year. This would not have been possible without the support from the State of Oklahoma and other donors.”

• Writing With Wacom

  You did it! Thanks for helping fund our grant for our Wacom writing tablet! I can’t wait for the students to start utilizing this in class. I plan to have them use it in daily work, project presentations, and during station rotations. • Dynamic Digital Resources

  Thank you so much for donating to my project "Dynamic Digital Resources." Having digital resources at my fingertips have allowed me to reach all of my students, whether they are learning at home or distance learning.

  Because of this gift card, I have been able to introduce skills through fun and engaging ways. One skill we are working on that was purchased through this gift card is creative writing. Using the mentor text "The Mysteries of Harris Burdick" students are writing their own creative narrative for them an illustration of their choice. So far, kids that have complained of writing in the past now have a different perspective and are excited about working on their stories. Activities like this would not have been possible without donors like you.

• Versatile Learning with Versatiles

  Funded Nov 15, 2020

  Thank you so much for funding the grant for our Literacy Versatiles. This year has been very different in how we interact in the classroom as far as learning centers and social distancing, so having hands-on activities students can do independently has been an incredible asset to our learning community.

  Students use our Versatiles to review literacy and writing skills such as phonics, reading comprehension, synonyms and antonyms, sentence structure, and more.

  When using Versatiles, students use the tiles to match a pattern to the answer to solve the problem or passage. This allows them to check their work and become autonomous in their learning. I've enjoyed watching them use the strategies we've learned in the classroom and self-check.

• Today a Reader, Tomorrow a Leader

  I wanted to thank you so much for the class set of the novel "Out of My Mind." When my students received these books they were excited to read a book from an author they had heard before, Sharon Draper. This book came upon recommendation from a student in our class, so it helped get them excited about reading it.

  Each day for about 15 minutes, we get to take a walk in Melody's shoes as she lives her life with cerebral palsy. This has allowed my students to see life in another perspective. It has been teaching them kindness, consideration, and acceptance along with other life skills.

  So far we have used this novel to teach many 5th grade literacy skills in an engaging way such as author's perspective, point of view, theme, characterization, setting, summarization, and much more.”

• Learning to Engage Students With Fun, Academic Rigor at GYTO

  Funded May 9, 2019

  Thank you so much for funding our professional development to Get Your Teach On. I learned so much about engagement and upholding Academic reading across various grade levels. I was able to focus specifically on 5th grade which I am new to teaching this year and got many practical and engaging ideas to implement in my classroom this year and for many years to come.

  Attending this conference also refilled my teaching cup and I am able to be back at school inspired to be the best teacher I can be. Students might be dealt hands that are not always the best, but it is my job to be their wild card, to make a difference in their lives.

  Receiving ideas and resources to help make me an effective teacher with best practices was an incredible experience, and I also loved hearing from the Keynote speaker, Rachel Hollis. I also got to hear from a teacher who survived StoneyBrooke Elementary shooting, and her story was truly inspirational. Thanks again for supporting me at this professional development!”
