  • Promoting Compassion

    Funded Nov 1, 2024

The impact of my "Promoting Compassion Project" has reached youngsters, teenagers & senior citizens. Students in my dual enrollment Human Development class were able to read two donated books to a daycare center as well as a community center. The college level course focuses on the developing individual within the context of the family system and the changes that occur in family systems over time.

My teenage students were able to have a party with the supplies donated teaching compassion to the preschoolers and bringing compassion to a community senior center. This compassion project and the course my students are in helped provide them with understanding of individual and family development over the lifespan.

Thank you for the opportunity to support my Donorschoose project with my students, the daycare and seniors!”

    With gratitude,

  • Chacra Challenge

    Funded Aug 12, 2024

Thank you for the supplies for my Chacra Challenge project. My students mean alot to me and it was heartwarming to work on a sensitive topic like mental health. Being able to share this with my class can hopefully impact all of them including myself. To promote mental health awareness my students thought of many positive affirmations and wrote them on post-its. A few of the affirmations were, "I grow and improve everyday" and "I'm valued and helpful". Students then designed paper collages with the pastel colored post-its. Each student chose which colors represent each of their moods without other students seeing their key. Some of the designs were hearts, flowers, trees and stars. Finishing off their collages students wrote a positive quote.

My class will occasionally do check-in posters using the sketch paper and punchy pastel colored paper. The mood tracker will give the students the opportunity to express how they're presently feeling during the school year and a follow up. Over the period of the course students can analyze their tracker and reflect on how their mental health changed throughout the year which over time creates awareness making students more effective managers of their moods. My motto is to learn while crafting your thoughts. In between projects we will take brain breaks and do meditation exercises.”

  • Learning Week by Week

    Funded Mar 30, 2024

It is with great appreciation that my classes have received the poster board, markers, and colored paper. Students, along with their teacher are forever grateful that we received these supplies. Upon receiving the boxes the students were very excited to begin their work on a project called, "Learning Week by Week". During this time they put together a poster on the weeks of pregnancy assigned to them.

The students were able to learn not only their weeks, but also the first through 40 weeks of pregnancy. Since it is important to obtain a gestational age in all pregnancies to provide the standard of care medical management for both mother and fetus, students were able to include information about the fetus and mother through their classroom assignments. The next step was to present their posters to their classmates and write two comments on each presentation. these practices form the foundation of continuous learning.”

  • Charlie's Pantry

    Funded Oct 21, 2023

Our school's FCCLA club made flyers/posters to promote the donation of boxed items for Charlie's Pantry. Members were able to put the items such as Instant Lunch Chicken Flavor soup, stuffing, and many cans of food into baskets after a Thanksgiving party during the school week. Members feel very humble about helping families in need struggling to find food on a regular basis. They realize that the basic- everyday items of food can become challenging for low income families and provides emergency or short-term assistance for people. Thank you for making this project as successful as it was.”

  • Getting in the Mood

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

My interior design classes were excited when our mood boards arrived. They have been patiently waiting for resources in their classes. With so many interior design classes this year it is very hard to buy the materials. Thank you so much for your support. In addition to the five classes we have 30 students in each class.

The mood boards are great for students to create ideas, collect their thoughts, and practice color schemes. Students can do hands on learning and have visual concepts that are a constant source of inspiration.”

  • Plant to Plate

    Funded Apr 20, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to our culinary classroom for our "Plant to Plate'' project. Your donation of the Hydroponic Indoor Garden gave the students the opportunity to use the herbs in their culinary dishes. At first the students were surprised by the garden. Then they understood the learning process and money saving concept.

The flavor of basil is a balance between sweet and savory. The students served empanadas with a garlicky basil olive oil sauce. The feathery leaves of the dill plant added a fresh green flavor to the shrimp salad. The student's also used the dill's bright green herby fronds which are very aromatic and have a grassy, anise and citrus flavor that you could taste in the shrimp salad.”

  • You Get A Towel, You Get A Towel!

    Funded Jan 13, 2023

Yes!!! Finally each culinary group has enough towels to get through all periods throughout the day. A very special thank you to all the donors who embraced our need and donated to our classroom project. We are without a doubt thankful for the new Kitchenaid mixers which eliminates sharing the 30 lb. machine. The donation of sugar should last us through this school year. We look forward to some amazing desserts!

Check out the picture of the donated flour which has filled our freezer. Storing flour in the freezer is the most sensible option when there is a lot. Frozen flour has an indefinite shelf life when stored in a container with oxygen absorbers. The freezer will prevent any rancidity and a mere four days in the freezer will also kill any possible pests.”

  • Seeking Membership

    Funded Sep 30, 2022

Thank you so much for the opportunity to gain membership in our FCCLA club. We had a lot of fun ordering the family fun items, receiving them, displaying items in baskets, and selling raffle tickets for both baskets. We sold tickets to the staff at our school including administration, teachers, para's, security, custodians, and our classmates. Members of the club arranged to have tables set up in the cafeteria so we could sell tickets to the students during all three lunch waves. As members of the FCCLA club at our school we want to thank you so much for giving us the change to stay involved in it.”

  • Squeeze the Stress

    Funded Sep 21, 2022

This project has been a wonderful way to assist students with specific needs by reducing their stress level. School-related stress is one of the most common cause of academic failure among students with learning disabilities. My FCCLA students worked in groups making the stress balls. The comradery that was witnessed was nice to see. It teaches students to work with all types of people in our life and we learn from all of them. Being an FCCLA adviser allows myself to empower future leaders and promote personal growth and leadership development through my content area of Family and Consumer Sciences education. Thank you donors for the opportunity to show my students that helping others is a wonderful gesture.”

My students love to cook and enjoy eating what they prepare. The first line of defense walking into the culinary kitchen is food safety, thus handwashing is emphasized in my class. Help me give my students a germ machine to ensure that they are preparing foods with clean hands and meeting the Food Code. Thank you for donating towards The Germ Busters Deluxe Kit with Maxi View Box. This machine will teach students to thoroughly wash their hands when touching food. Hand washing is by far the best way to keep kids from getting sick and prevent the spread of germs.
