As part of our core standards, students are required to read multiple fiction and non-fiction articles and books. Finding and funding high-interest books in class sets is difficult; however, ensure that the books my students read are incentivizing is even more difficult. Our students will be asked to independently read fiction and non-fiction books, take reading notes, and then take tests over them in order to show understanding. The requested Apple iPad Mini 4 tablets with protective cases will allow students to test immediately after completing one of their required fiction and/or nonfiction books, as well as provide an in-class resource for students to use Audible and other reading resources. These tablets will allow students to choose the books they want to read, check them out of the classroom library, and then test over the novels. The iPads will also allow differentiation so struggling students may use resources like Audible to listen to a wide-range of novels. Our students need to see they are not alone in the struggles they're facing, and reading is the key to that understanding.
