  • Mrs. B's Masterpiece Housing Unit

    Your donation allowed us to purchase a large cabinet to hold in progress artwork for over 700 students. If you have ever worked with a large number of students and tried to keep all their paperwork organized, you know how vital it is to keep things in order and for everything to have a specific place. I struggled with this for the past few years but this year it has been a breeze since receiving this cabinet to hold it all.

    The students were in shock when our maintenance crew delivered it because it is about eight feet tall and three feet wide. Funny enough, they delivered it a few days before Christmas break and I jokingly told the students that it was probably my Christmas present from Santa a few days early!

    Overall, we have really been able to make the most out of this cabinet and it will be a huge asset to this classroom for many many years to come.”

  • Preserving the Masterpieces of Childhood

    My students were elated to see the new iPads in our classroom this year! Thank you so much for all your support and love.

    One way we have utilized the iPads this year is by taking photos of finished artwork and uploading them to our online art portfolio. When the student finishes their art project, they are responsible for taking the photo, editing and cropping, and adjusting the lighting if necessary. After they submit the photo, they have the option to add a title and an artist statement to their project if they would like to.

    Another way we have utilized the iPads in our classroom this year is for drawing tutorials. When students are finished with their main project, if they have additional time, the iPads are available for them to use. They love getting to choose videos that they are interested in and I love seeing how excited they get when they are able to create a successful drawing.”

    This classroom project was brought to life by The DonorsChoose 20th Anniversary Fund and 5 other donors.
At the end of each class period, students place their unfinished artwork into a table folder. When the students come back to art class the following week, folders are dispersed so they can have as much time as possible to complete the masterpiece! These folders are currently stored in a filing cabinet that is not wide enough for our longer artworks. These new cabinets will be used to store over 700 pieces of "in progress" artwork as well as some of our most used classroom materials!! When students enter the classroom, a student manager will be able to disperse artwork, so students may begin work upon entering.

About my class
