My students need a way to express themselves. They are creative and can come up with some amazing ideas, however, they need the materials that will engage them and encourage them to put their ideas into practice. LEGO education products can give my students opportunities in every subject level that they are limited to right now. First, with the use of the LEGOs and a digital camera, my students can practice their writing, retelling, summarization, and several other ELA skills by using the figures and LEGOS to create new worlds and visual recreations of the stories they read. This will allow my visual learners to engage in their reading and writing skills. It will also help them recreate historical events that we learn about so that students can see the action happen before them in a world they have created. The biggest help these LEGOs will provide is in our STEAM education focus. Today's industries demand graduates that can function in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics industries. Through the use of LEGOs my students can create new technology that can solve scientific problems or make life easier, especially for people with extra challenges. They can also visualize abstract mathematical concepts that challenge my students who need concrete examples. Lastly, it puts the arts into these core concepts by allowing my students to practice artistic concepts by using their imaginations and own creations. This allows them to be creative and see their ideas come to life. The camera will allow them show these off at home and to their peers. Hopefully one day the record of these devices will help them to find the next invention that will change the world....
