Googol Or Google? Engaging Science With Chromebooks!
Funded Feb 17, 2013Thank you so much for your kind and generous donations to my classroom. The students are excited to use the chromebooks - they have an Edmodo Account and have posted URLs of Websites they researched that contains information about the Life-cycle of Stars to share with other students, have manipulated physics simulations that shows the parabolic nature of projectile motion and have researched several other topics. The students are excited about having the Chromebooks and are eager to use them at any opportunity!
I haven't even tipped the iceberg of all the exciting, innovative and engaging activities that the students will be able to participate in by having access to the Internet during class. We are planning to research, play On-line science games, use science apps, and post student work on Google docs. This is an exciting time and the students will be learning 21st Century skills as we integrate the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) and the soon to be approved Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) to improve education at our school. I also plan to share what I have learned with other teachers so they implement these wonderful ideas in their classrooms.
Thanks again for this amazing opportunity to help my students learn.
Warmest regards and”

It's Electric!
Funded Nov 25, 2010I want to take a moment to profusely thank you for the wonderful science materials that your kind and generous donations helped provide to my classroom. The students have investigated the properties of metal with the "conductometers" discovering which metals conduct heat the fastest. By using the conductivity of solutions apparatus, they have also determined that different salts, such as table salt, NaCl, KCl, and copper chloride, are electrolytes and will conduct electricity when dissolved in water. They also learned that some salts are better conductors than others. We will be able to use these materials over and over to test various compounds.
As you may know, California is in a budget crisis, and every little bit that is donated is greatly appreciated. I would not have been able to offer my students the opportunities to investigate heat and electrical conductivity through these amazing activities, were it not for your gift. Properties of matter, such as conductivity, are included in the Ca. Science standards, and are an important concept for students to discover. Having access to hands-on activities that bring science alive helps students by making abstract concepts more concrete. This is especially important at the middle grades- where fostering a love for science now may encourage students to pursue higher science classes in the future.
Thank you again for your kind and generous donations. My classroom will enjoy the benefits for years to come.

Fungi is Fun!
Funded Feb 8, 2008Thank you so very much for your kind and generous donation. I am so thrilled that you have funded our "Fungi is Fun" project. I am looking forward to showing the students that not all fungus is icky! We are going to be studying life, multicellular eukaryotes, asexual reproduction, life cycles and much more with this hands-on project. Thanks again for your contribution to our classroom”
