Heads Up!
Funded Mar 29, 2017As we prepare for the upcoming school year, I must express my gratitude for helping obtain new drum heads for our bass drums. We just completed our summer marching camp, and having those new drum heads made all of the difference. Not only do the drums look better, but the sound is noticeably clearer and louder. My bass drummers were ecstatic to finally receive the new drum heads. It had been quite a few years since we had replaced them all and they definitely have a renewed sense of pride when performing.
The upcoming school year will include many new exciting experiences and challenges. You have helped provide my students with the materials they need to perform their best. Thank you for all of your constant support. We could not do it without you.”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Asbury

Funded Jan 17, 2017My students have really enjoyed getting to use these new materials. We were able to debut some of them in our latest Broadway production in February. The wind chimes and gong made an especially huge difference in the way our music sounded. Now that my students are exploring these new percussion instruments, they are more eager than ever to learn new and more challenging music.
One of the best reactions from receiving this particular set of materials came from one of my beginning percussionists. She has been stuck playing on a bell set that has definitely seen better days. It does not even have a stand, so she has to set it on the desk. When I rolled out the bell kit, her mouth dropped open and she almost screamed "Is that for me?" It was a great moment.
Thank you for making so much happen for my students and our growing program. We will forever be grateful for the opportunities you continue to provide.”

Mrs. Asbury

Funded Nov 30, 2016Thank you again for helping provide the materials needed to make our visions come to life. As we prepare for our collaborative Broadway show coming up next week, these materials are really being put to good use. My band students are getting better at tuning their instruments every day. Additionally, we are ready to "play in the dark" thanks to our stand lights. This is the first year that the band has been able to participate in this production, and you can tell that the band members are very excited. They are proud of the work they have accomplished and are looking forward to performing for their parents and peers. Thank you for making this possible.”

Funded Sep 21, 2016Thank you once again for helping us get the materials we desperately needed! Now that we have enough practice pads for everyone, not only is our class just a little bit quieter (our ears thank you), but all of our percussionists are able to practice in the best way possible. The practice pads provide us with a more real "drum-like" response than hitting on a table or the floor. It is improving their technique and fundamentals.
Additionally, the saxophone players are all very grateful for the new cushioned neckstraps. The old ones were quite uncomfortable and not supportive. We are all very grateful for your generous donations and appreciate your continued support of the fine arts in public schools.”

Funded Aug 5, 2016Thank you for supporting our growing piano program by helping us purchase these new keyboards. We were able to add more students to the class now that we have more piano keyboards to use in. In addition, the students in my music theory course can use the keyboards to reinforce the concepts they are learning in class. These bundles enable multiple students to practice at the same time without disrupting one another.
By adding more technology to my classroom, my students are able to further their understanding of music theory, performance technique, and tonality. Thank you for your continued support.”

Mrs. Asbury
Organize! Part 2
Funded May 2, 2016We are so excited to be able to organize our instruments safely and efficiently thanks to your generosity. My students are able to get to their instruments and set up for their rehearsals quickly and our rehearsals are able to run more smoothly now that we are not wasting time climbing over one another to find instruments. This new shelving system may not like seem like much, but it really is helping improve our band program.
We are very fortunate to have such a strong support system through the kindness of people like you. Our program would not be where it is today without your support. Thank you, again, for always being so willing to help.”

Organize!
Funded Feb 5, 2016It has taken me a few days to finish building all of the bookshelves, but they are finally done! My students immediately appreciate the difference it makes in their daily routine of getting their music folders out for rehearsal. It seems like such a small and simple thing to have, but these new bookshelves and binders are making such a big difference. Our band room looks nicer and more organized, which also encourages my students to take better care of the things that we have. My students and I are, as always, extremely grateful for your generosity. Thank you for thinking of us and for supporting music education in public schools.”

Accesorize!
Funded Dec 10, 2015Thank you again for your overwhelming support of our program. My students were thrilled when I opened a giant box of reeds. They are used to having to deal with chipped and broken reeds because we were not able to purchase any more. It's one of those costs that always adds up and surprises you. This supply will keep my band going comfortably for quite a while. My students will sound better as well. Words cannot adequately express the gratitude we feel. We are forever grateful for the support you have given us in so many different ways.”

Funded Sep 21, 2015Our goal has finally been reached. We now officially have all the chairs we need for this year. Words cannot adequately express the gratitude I feel towards all of you for your extreme kindness to me and my students. They are demonstrating proper posture and as a result are playing more confidently. When I started the first project, I was worried about how long it would take to get the amount of chairs we needed. However, thanks to your generosity, my students are preparing for our first concert with matching and professional looking chairs. For years, they have sat in mismatched and sometimes nearly broken chairs at our concerts. Now, we can sit with pride. Thank you again for everything!”

Funded Aug 11, 2015This entire process has been such an incredible experience. I am completely overwhelmed by the amount of support we have received, and how quickly we have received it. My principal has never seen projects funded so fast, and I have you all to thank for that.
Not only are my students sitting with proper posture, they also have a stronger sense of pride for our program. We finally have all of the chairs that we need, and my students are thrilled to have them. It seems silly that chairs can make such a big difference, but this entire process has shown them that they are important and worthy of having the best we can provide them with.”

Mrs. Asbury
