Sorry, Not Available at This Time!
Funded Mar 16, 2021Thank you so much for supporting my project today. The kids will be thrilled when they find the missing copies of their favorite books on the shelf!
Kids need to read and be able to get lost in books. If there was a time when this is needed, now is the perfect time. These books you have so willingly donated will help our kids in more than one way.”

Ms. Antony

Funded Aug 19, 2020As expected, students come in daily in search of replacement masks to wear, or to swap an uncomfortable mask for something more wearable. This has been a great help to the point that our high school is the HS in the district with the lowest number of COVID-19 cases to date.
Our kids are wearing masks, and this is helping their classmates, teachers and relatives. Compliance is not 100%, but the mask wearing culture is winning and having these masks readily available really helps.
The speech teacher finds the clear masks helpful when working with students, and the language teachers have used them with success.
Thanks for donating towards our project. It has made a big difference.”

Funded Jun 25, 2020Even though delays in shipping due to the pandemic delayed this project a bit, I was able to distribute some masks over the summer when the kids came to pick up their lunches.
When school started more masks were distributed, and, to date, about 60 school spirited masks have gone out to students and their families. The kids seem to like the school colors in their masks, and they have made comments about the fit - they have size choices and can choose the size that best fits their faces. This helps with compliance, which is the ultimate goal since masks seem to be the only proven protection to reduce the chances of catching the virus.
The process continues, and now that I have all the necessary equipment and materials I will be able to continue making masks to distribute to our kids. Students on campus are mostly being compliant, and infection ratios are low.
Thanks for your help with this project and for helping our kids stay safe!”

Funded Jan 23, 2020Although we weren't able to finish the project due to our current circumstances, students did get the opportunity to sort out the supplies, cut bookmarks out of watercolor paper, put some paint in watercolor pallets, watch some instructional videos, and start the production of watercolor bookmarks.
I have shared the bookmarks with you, and I hope to continue this project when school re-opens. The importance of arts and crafts has been highlighted by the pandemic: in isolation and under stress, individuals turn to activities that distract them and give them a sense of purpose. When school goes back in session, students will need this escape, which we will be able to provide to all students, but especially to those not enrolled in art classes, where these activities are possible.
Thanks for your generosity and your willingness to always help our students realize their dreams.”

Funded Oct 17, 2019Thanks for funding my conference trip. The ideas shared by colleagues, speakers and vendors have provided a needed boost of mid-year inspiration. I have been able to procure funding for the Raspberry Pi computer, and I am ready to implement this little project with my students.
It is always enlightening to attend technology conferences like this one, where teachers share instructional technology integration ideas and vendors educate the public about their latest offerings. The world of technology is evolving rapidly, and it is easy to get left behind when you stop paying attention for just a few days!
I appreciate that you understand the importance for professional development, and that you are willing to help teachers continue their training for the benefit of all students.”

Funded Mar 2, 2020Thanks for your generosity! The kids will be happy to have book resources for their makerspace activities. How-to-books are extremely helpful for our short activities that aim to increase creative opportunities for our students. Watercolor and painting projects can be daunting, but these books will help our students succeed!”

Funded Oct 7, 2019The kids have been building like crazy since the day they received their kits. They came up with completely different designs, and by the first competition of the year they had ready-for-competition robots that they took along to the venue.
This is the first time we have been able to compete with four finished robots this early in the year. Not only did the kids have time to research their builds and the new V5 system, but they also had the opportunity to use and manipulate the materials during the summer at their leisure. Once the school year started, they were feverishly joining parts, testing balance and functionality, building and rebuilding to have a working robot.
Their efforts paid off, and the girls' team made it all the way to the semi-finals, while the veterans team won the tournament championship and qualified for the State competition.
The kids plan to participate in a few more tournaments, and hone their driving and building skills to try to qualify to other events, perhaps event Worlds early next year. They are learning physics and engineering concepts, and thanks to our engineer volunteer they can put these in action when they build.
This was all possible thanks to your generosity for allowing us to get this equipment early enough to give the kids time to explore and plan during the summer.”

Let's Build These Robots!
Funded May 24, 2019We purchased robot kits with your generous donations, and the kids were able to take these home over the summer. With the kits they were able to build basic claw bots, and program them to perform simple functions. They learned to troubleshoot some of the mechanical issues (good shaft collars are important, for instance), and gained an understanding of the new V5 system.
All these are pre-requisites for designing the robots that will be used for competitions - they learned the basic robot is not adequate for this task, and that an improved wheel base is needed, for instance. Also that the new robot needs to be taller to be able to accomplish the task of stacking cubes into tall baskets.
We really appreciate your help with our Robotics teams. The kids are excited about this year's competitions, and even the kids who said they weren't interested in competing are beginning to see the benefits involved. Our future engineers are learning to work as cohesive teams, and constantly learn from each other in the process.
We have met twice this year so far, and have tons of meetings and learning ahead. Things would have been very difficult without your help.”

Funded Oct 23, 2018Thanks so much! We invited the author to come talk to our students so he could inspire our students' designs. The author explained the history of the school, how it came to be almost 50 years ago, and provided inspiration so the students could design their anniversary logo.
Students are just beginning to come into the media center makerspace to manipulate their files, cut the vinyl and iron the designs onto their t-shirts.
With your donation, we were able to get the equipment and some of the materials necessary for the project. Other donors saw the benefit to the students, and more funding became available to get this project to reach even more students!
I am learning along with the students, polishing my rusty knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and having a great time in the process.”

Funded Dec 4, 2018The kids have been participating in VEX tournaments and are gaining confidence in their building skills. All three teams received awards, and have returned to drawing table to adjust their robots to better meet their goals. The tools we acquired with your generous donation are being used everyday - even the Dremel has been carefully used under adult supervision to cut pieces to the needed size.
We have a couple of tournaments to go - and two of the three teams have already qualified for the State competition later in March. I am looking forward to accompanying these teams to State, and grateful to our donors for making this year a successful one for our VEX teams. Between the equipment shortages and the financial constraints, I was not sure we were going to be able to get this far.
We really appreciate your help with our projects. You are the best!”

Ms. Antony
