The hands-on materials selected will help my Kindergarten students continue to learn and grow! The math activities that are being requested are fun, visually appealing, provides step-by-step picture instructions and hands-on that come ready to use, which will make independent math practice a snap! In a district in which almost 100% of the students are below the poverty line, it decreases the chances of students having materials, that they can use at home to build math skills, therefore I have to do my best to provide those opportunities at school to help them learn. My students will be able to use the materials to learn math concepts, increase their language skills, especially, my EL students, and engage more with their classmates. The materials can be used by students with limited fine and gross motor skills as well as those with limited English. Every student deserves a chance to succeed in mathematics! Each learner should have the opportunity to enjoy mathematics instruction, feel empowered by math knowledge, and consider themselves part of a group that, too many students can feel very distant, both those who “struggles” and those who are “good at math.” Students desire to be independent learners and providing activities that provide a sense of ownership, confidence, and the desire push forward, will encourage them to emerge themselves in learning math skills that will promote growth as a learner!
