  • Listening to the World

    Funded Aug 24, 2014

Thank you so much for the gift of audio books and listening center for my classroom. The children are truly enjoying their new listening center. They snuggle up with globe pillows on a map rug and listen to great books. As they listen to the book, while following along with a hard copy of the book. After, they return to their seats and answer comprehension questions pertaining to the story. Listening center is very relaxing and offers the kids the opportunity to hear more voices reading aloud with expression. Again, thank you for your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Adamsky

  • Help us Keep our New Technology Safe, Please!

    Funded Oct 8, 2013

My amazing students and I have been so thrilled with the new tablets and cases you donated to us. The children use the tablets daily to play literacy and math apps. They are always asking me if it is their turn. There are so many fantastic apps available that help reinforce the skills needed for second grade.

As I stated in my other letters, many of my students are not on a level playing field with students in nearby communities. Watching how enthusiastic they are to "play" and learn everyday in so many ways truly warms my heart. It is because of your generous donation that they are able to do this in the same way so many others students take for granted.”

  • Capture the Fleeting Science Moments

    Funded Mar 22, 2010

All of the supplies you purchased for us have arrived! I am so grateful for your kind and generous donations.

I spent the afternoon taking pictures of my students as they worked on their rainforest center activities. They love having their picture taken! We have already had a wonderful discussion about how we *take* a picture in English. Many of my students speak Spanish at home and they often say, "Will you throw my picture?"

The teachers at our school work very hard to make lesson engaging and standards-based for our students. Being able to document the process and end product is so wonderful.

The journals and thermometers will help us revisit some of our weather experiments. It is great to have accurate tools to use!

Again, I really appreciate your kindness!

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Adamsky

Approximately 90% of my students live at or below the poverty line and the majority do not speak English at home. They are wonderful, loving, eager learners. Our school is a lively, loving community located in a poverty stricken city with a troubled public school system.
