  • Art Library to Help us Grow

    Funded Apr 7, 2023

My students will soon have the books in hand about famous artists, art history, and many of our favorite contemporary artists! How exciting! Along with these informative books, they also now have a huge collection of How-To-Draw books for their own exploration. These foundational skills will help them expand their ideas and creativity as they grow in confidence as artists.

We are so very grateful for our generous supporters and our community of donors that helps us in expressing our ideas through art. Without your support, our art room could not thrive as it does. We humbly thank you and want you to know that you are making a difference!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Armendariz

  • Making our Mark in Art

    Funded Mar 6, 2023

Students have already enjoyed using the acrylics and sharpies form our latest projects. Paint supplies and marking utensils are such an endless need in the art room! Students are eager and ready to give their best when we see those wonderful supplies in abundance.

We thank you for your generous support of our art room and we are inspired to do even more great things with the supplies we are granted. You can check out all of our amazing artists on artsonia.com - just look for Owl Creek School. We are so very fortunate to have supporters like you. We can't say THANK YOU enough!”

  • Color Me Fun With Art!

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous support of the FUN FUN paints for our art classroom! We already dove in with our paints and pastels this semester and are gearing up for more projects coming soon.

This week Kindergarten and first grade students painted rocks to beautify our courtyard, while 2nd graders used our fancy, new, colorful Pastels to create an Expressive self portrait. We have had such fun with our new painting supplies. We cannot complete projects such as these without your generous support, and for that we thank you.

Owl Creek school is an awesome place to grow and learn. Thank you for being part of our journey.”

  • Possibilities with PAPER!

    Funded Feb 14, 2022

Thank you so much for your support. Once again, through the generosity of donors like yourself, my students have been able to continue in their artistic endeavors without skipping a beat.

The abundant supply of specialty paper that we have received through this Donors Choose grant has allowed us to create some AMAZING art, including our paper animals, a 'la Eric Carle. This particular lesson was a "process" lesson, allowing for students to see the art come to life through steps in a process. Not always an easy task for impatient Kindergarten and 1st grade students! The paper we received allowed each student to create multiple designs of "Painted" paper through the printing process. That in itself was great fun! The second step in the process was to create their animal!! Our finished pieces were both animated and inspired. Thank you for allowing them this unique opportunity through your support.

I am humbled and encouraged by your support and on behalf of my students, I thank you. Truly, we are appreciative.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Armendariz

  • Art Supplies for Amazing Artists

    Funded Oct 1, 2021

Thank you so much for the amazing supplies for our Amazing Artists. Our pencils sharpener and organizing baskets have already made a difference in our "studio time" - time spent on imagining and creating. I might add also, they are a colorful lift to our classroom. :) Students have noticed and appreciated the difference.

The paper supplies are just immeasurable! Something as simple as paper has become a cornerstone of a successful art room. The donations you provided ensured all of our little artists had color choices and could complete their paper project without constraints. First time ever that I didn't have to say "no" to a color or to an amount. The kids were free to create their paper weave to their hearts desire!

Our paper projects will continue into the holidays and spill over into the new year even! Thank you again for providing the abundant supply of the little things that keep our art room humming with excitement and creativity. Our little artists thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Armendariz

  • Expressions in Color

    Funded Sep 1, 2021

We have thoroughly enjoyed our colorful supplies for our "Expressions in Color"! 2nd grade students completed their expressionists portraits with glue and NEON pastels! What a treat! Kindergarteners enjoyed a colorful version of themselves with a kinder-styled self portrait with a colorful "overpainting". Your support gave us the supplies to complete these projects and our little artists thank YOU!

Students squealed with excitement when they saw the neon pastels (something we have never used before) and carried their enthusiasm all the way to completion of their portrait. Our hallways are filled with vibrant student artwork. Thank you for your part in that process.

We intend to share the love of these colorful paints and supplies! Our acrylics will be introduced soon with a mini masterpiece from 3rd and 4th graders. We will be completing a mini landscapes using our imagination and artists techniques to show depth and feeling with color. Can't wait to see these! Thank you again for your part in supporting our little artists.”

  • Creative Expressions ALL Around

    Funded Jul 19, 2021

First let me thank you for your generous support of the Arts. Students at Owl Creek were super pumped to receive our donation of paints and painting supplies! All of my students LOVE to paint! While we can't paint everyday, there is not a week that goes by that a student doesn't ask "Are we painting today?"

When students saw the brand new paint pallets and paint sticks they were beyond excited! While we do share our supplies within grade levels, your donation helped to provide paint for all 500+ students at Owl Creek for multiple projects!

Kindergarten was revved for using the paint sticks! Many of them had never seen a paint stick before, much less created with them. It was a true moment of discovery and AWE! 3rd and 4th grade are in the middle of their ALL About ME self portrait that will be painted next week with our new pallets. They can't wait!

Thank you again and please know you have made a difference in the life of a child.”

    With gratitude,

  • Travel Paints on the GO!

    Funded Nov 13, 2020

This project allowed my virtual students - along side my in-person classes - to enjoy a project that they otherwise would not have been able to do. The paint sticks that I deemed "Paints on the Go" fit perfectly into our cardboard insect project.

Each virtual student got their own bag of supplies which included the cardboard for building the sculpture, glue and paint sticks. I can't emphasize enough the impact that this has on my students. This allowed students the opportunity to have their own supplies, making for all the more inclusion of our distance learners.

This year has been a challenge in so many ways, but projects like this that include all learners, is truly a testament to us all working together. Thank you for helping us create in sync whether at home or school, and for supporting art when we need it the most!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Armendariz

  • Drawing the Line

    Funded Oct 27, 2020

Thank you so much for supporting Owl Creek students with a fresh supply of Markers and Colored Pencils. As we monitor and adjust during this crazy school year, students are eager to use Art as a means of expressing their creativity - as well as their angst and hope for what's to come. These materials ensure that everyone has what they need to be successful in their artmaking - no matter the setting!

Our Masked Self-Portraits are a testament to what our students are capable of given the opportunity and the tools. We truly thank you for your generosity!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Armendariz

  • Pottery Glazes: Finishing Touch!

    Funded Dec 10, 2019

Thank you so much for your generous support with finishing our pottery project. Students thoroughly enjoyed the final stages of our pottery experience thanks to you!

With the selection made available, students were able to choose from a variety of amazing glazes that complimented their creations. Their reactions to such a wide range of color choices ranged from "OOOOs and AAAHHHS" to "this is the best project EVER!". Knowing that students cherish this experience and have something they can keep for a lifetime is beyond words and makes me proud to be their art teacher. I know the care and effort put into this project will have a lasting impact on their art making confidence as well as memories of 5th and 6th grade at Owl Creek. Without your support provided to make this happen, it would not be possible.

Student pottery is being shared with loved ones as we speak, proudly on display in a glass art case in the middle school hallway here at school, and carefully stored for a future public showing in a local coffee shop this spring. So much wonderful pottery to share! My students and I thank you again. Please know you are appreciated!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Armendariz

My students have a wonderful art studio space! We also enjoy having our art live on throughout the school for others to enjoy. With this project I hope to introduce my students to the joy of art making as a lifelong endeavor and as an enhancement to our space. Students will design studio stools that will not only be artworks themselves, but will provide an option to the bulky chairs we have now. I want my students to experience how they can make any space more interesting, beautiful or thought-provoking through simple, yet creative design. The art that they make will be practical, useful, and interesting. It will also stay with the school art studio for years to come as a legacy of their artmaking efforts.
