Building an Orffestra: One Xylophone at a Time!

Funded Jun 21, 2024

We are so grateful for your donations to our Orffestra! With your help, we have 2 more Orff instruments and differentiated learning opportunities for our learners here at Rothschild Elementary School!

When I brought out the new Bass and Soprano Xylophones and the Color-Coded Bell Music books, their eyes suddenly got bigger and caught their breath looking at these wonderful new instruments and songs they could use. They were so thankful to hear that people in our community and people that we didn't know were willing to help us reach our dream of having a full Orffestra!

I started using them with Orff resources by Artie Almeida that I learned about from some professional development opportunities I took. Her lessons are so interactive! We have been working on our tone production, steady beat with hands together and alternating, dynamics, tempos, tremolos, and being responsive to the conductor.

I am really looking forward to having xylophone stations working on a variety of musical concepts and bell stations for playing music with the Color-Coded Bell Music books! We are also starting to work on our winter concerts soon which I plan to feature our new instruments!

Thank you again so much for your donations to help us to realize our goal, Building an Orffestra: One Xylophone at a Time!”

With gratitude,

Mrs. Zell
