The students I service are low income. They live in a community were most of the families are receiving government assistance. Students have limited or no monies to buy their children books to achieve at school. Most of the students are receiving free lunch and breakfast. Students look at the school as a safe haven and depend on the teachers for support and comfort. Most of the students are having difficulity reading on grade level. Due to their parents not speaking the english language.
