Vanquish Those Germs!
Funded Jan 1, 2022Thank you so much for donating to my project. With your generous donation we were able to get tons of supplies to vanquish all the invisible germs in our classroom.
When my students saw all the boxes of supplies, they literally jumped for joy and cheered. We got cleaning wipes that I use every day to clean their desks and the tables. We have so much hand sanitizer, our hands are super clean. We got small pumps to take out to breakfast and lunch. We all love using the touchless hand sanitizer machine in the classroom. It squirts out just enough to clean our hands and the refillable sanitizer smells really good.
Thank you so much for helping us kill all the germs. This has definitely helped keep many of us cold-free!”

Funded Aug 17, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donation! Because of you, my students have earbuds to use in class. They are learning to be more responsible and more organized as they carefully take out and remember to put away the earbuds for safe keeping.
When they first opened their boxes, my students were so excited and immediately started trying them out. They like that the earbuds wrap around their ears keeping them in place. They can change out the rubber piece to fit their own ear size.
My students use their tablets almost daily to listen to text and to practice reading books at their level. They also play math games and take district mandated tests with the help of the earbuds. The room is so quiet as they engage in the different apps and programs. These earbuds have made a difference and have helped me tremendously as I navigate teaching both 1st and 2nd graders in one classroom.”

Funded Sep 21, 2020Thank you so much for putting headphones into my students hands... or rather ears. They were so excited to get them. The next Zoom meeting they were wearing the headphones and had such huge smiles on their faces.
Having noise cancelling headphones has helped cut out the background noise for them as well as the rest of us on Zoom. Many of them live in crowded households where adults are watching tv or other siblings are on Zoom with their teachers. The noise can get quite loud and very distracting. This has helped my students concentrate more on what I am teaching and helps when they are discussing with peers.
One student in particular has difficulties paying attention. The headphones have helped him stay seated and pay attention to what is going on in class. He no longer looks around at what his family members are doing because his focus is on our class.”

Funded Sep 3, 2020Thank you so much for putting all of these wonderful school tools into my students hands. They have so many things to use while we Zoom. When they first got their goodie bags, they were so happy and excited to use everything. You should've seen the huge smiles on their faces. They held up their bags and all the supplies that were inside. They kept asking me when they could use different things. I think they wanted to use everything on the first day!
They use their lined journals with pencils, sharpeners, and erasers every day as we do our informational writing or respond to text. All their supplies are kept neatly in their large pencil box. They can use actual white boards with markers instead of makeshift ones made with sheet protectors. We use this every day, especially during Math.
They love using the construction paper to create art. We create art on Fridays and we were able to make paper sculptures showing what makes them happy. We also created a paper 3D roller coaster. This helps with motivation and Social Emotional Learning during these difficult times.”

Funded Apr 12, 2018Thank you so much for your generous donation! I was able to bring 3 tablets into my classroom. Only half of my students had tablets at home so this was something new to the other half. They picked it up quickly and took off learning while playing games.
I downloaded some educational apps and created a schedule. The students had their own earbuds and they learned to plug them in, sign in to the apps, and play math and reading games. They absolutely loved it! I even had some students who knew this brand of tablet well and they became my "tech kids." It was great to see kids say "Look, I got 100 coins," or "I got it right!" or just being polite and asking for help or asking if a friend needed help. I used a timer and rotated kids so that they'd get to go on a tablet two times per week.
They also used Word to type and print out their informational and opinion writing. Their faces lit up when they heard the printer go off and then they ran over to get their typed writing.
At the end of the day I'd even use the tablet as an incentive for some of my more difficult students. It definitely helped with some students' behavior. And for the last report card I got to give every student a technology grade.”

Funded Jan 31, 2012Dear Generous Donors,
Thank you so much for donating towards my Donors Choose project. I was able to purchase about 100 books for my students. These books are being used in the classroom and my students' are able to borrow and take them home.
Another school year has begun making these books accessible to a 2nd group of students. They love the books and are reading them and taking good care of them.
Thank you so much for your generosity. Because of you, my students are enjoying reading at school and at home.”
