  • Sharpening Our Fitness Skills With Skillastics

    Funded Sep 23, 2016

Thank you for your generous contributions. My students were so excited to be able to get the Skillastics games. We had been learning all the various exercises prior to receiving the game, so when the package arrived, they were ecstatic! Sometime the students want to take the games out and play them on their own, or to teach it to another class. They have definitely been moving around a lot more and being more active!

My students learned that people can be generous and gracious even without knowing them. They learned that humanity can be loving, and are so appreciative every time they use the equipment because someone made donations to help them with their project.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Yee

  • Let's Get Fit With Outdoor Education

    Funded Aug 12, 2016

Thank you for your generous contributions. My students were so excited to be able to play various games outdoors and being more physical every day. We have played tic-tac-toe relays using the agility rings and bean bags. We learned various different exercises using the agility ladders and the cones. My students broke up into different groups and came up with their own exciting exercise games and are taking turns to teach it to the class, and love having the resources to teach and demonstrate with it.

The class was so excited when they first saw the materials. When I told them they were all brand new, they were even more excited and grateful for having things that they could use to "play" with outside.

  • STEM Data Collection and Research with Technology

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

My students were so excited the day when the boxes of iPads were delivered to our classroom. After getting them set up, the students were able to use the iPads to go outside and take pictures of the gardens, have discussions in their small groups about what they found and refer back to the pictures, and then create presentations to share with others about what they are learning.

The iPads make practicing various skills easily accessible because of the wide variety of applications and programs that could be downloaded and used. Students who need help with reading can use applications where they practice blending sounds and reading at the right level. Students who want to practice math facts can use applications where they play math games. The iPads have so many wonderful uses and students find the technology engaging and exciting.

The donations you provided for my classroom will have a lasting impact on the way my students feel about school. It's no longer a boring place where they learn things that they feel aren't relevant to them. My students are excited to come to school when they know they can "play" and "learn" at the same time. Because these resources can be used year after year, many more students will be impacted. Thank you so much!”

    Mrs. Yee

  • Experiencing the World with TIME For Kids Magazines

    Funded Mar 11, 2016

My students were so excited to hear that people cared so much about them to donate TIME For Kids magazine subscriptions to them. We will be receiving these subscriptions for the next school year, but my current class has already been using the magazines that we received from donations the prior year.

We use the magazines currently to help supplement our language arts program and social studies. Each week, students are excited to receive a new current issue. They are so engaged while looking at the pictures. We have long discussions about current events presented in the magazine and they make lots of connections to what they already know. I love it because it provides so much information for them to write about so that they are more engaged in their writing and aren't bored to write about things they know little about.

The TIME For Kids magazines have been such an important part of our weekly curriculum. Thank you for helping open my students' eyes to the world around them through these magazines!”

  • Paper Roller Coasters for STEM

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

    Dear Donors,

My class is so excited to start their paper rollercoaster project! When I told them that we received the donations for the cardstock, scoring boards, and scotch tape, they weren't sure what it was for. As I started to build a model of the rollercoaster structure in class, they became more and more curious and inquisitive. They finally guessed what it was for and they ask me every day if they could get started on it. It is this kind of curiosity and intrigue that has motivated my class to ask questions, use inferencing skills, and come to class excited to learn.

We will be starting the rollercoaster project in about a week, but I wanted to thank you from behalf of my class for your donations. They will be so excited to create paper rollercoasters and learn how to work in teams, problem solve, and incorporate math and science skills as they build their own creative rollercoaster.”

  • Book and Art Storage Carts to Help Organize Our Class

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

My students were so excited when the boxes were delivered to our classroom. I set up the art rack quickly and they were happy to be able to find a suitable place for it in our class. Immediately, my students were thinking of things that they could use it for aside from artwork. They eventually decided a good use for it would be to put their base plates with their LEGO dream homes in it so that they wouldn't need to take it apart each time.

When we finally set up the book storage cart and leveled our reading books, my students were able to find books that were in their reading level. Our classroom has become much more organized and students know clearly where things belong and where to find things.

The donations you provided for my classroom have taught my students to be more organized. Because these resources can be used year after year, many more students will be impacted. Thank you so much!”

  • Making STEM FUN with LEGOS!

    Funded Mar 9, 2016

My students and I were so excited about receiving the LEGO sets, base plates, and magnetic tiles. They came at a great time as we were just starting our math unit on area and perimeter. Their eyes lit up the day the boxes were delivered to our classroom and I never saw my class more engaged and motivated to complete their math assignments.

The students in my class used the LEGO's and worked in pairs to create a floor plan of their "dream home." Then they calculated the area and the perimeter of their homes. They used the magnetic tiles to make other 3 dimensional models of houses, cars, trains and found its areas. The students had so much fun making these models and they were so engaged that they never complained about doing so much math. I even heard some of the students say, "Math is so much fun!"

The donations you provided for my classroom will have a lasting impact on the way my students feel about school. It's no longer a boring place where they learn things that they feel aren't relevant to them. My students are excited to come to school when they know they can "play" and "learn" at the same time. • Experiencing the World with TIME For Kids Magazines

    Funded Feb 19, 2014

Thank you for your generous contribution to funding our project. My students were very excited to learn that there were people who cared about our school and wanted to help with their learning. We received a copy of the Time for Kids Magazine that my students will be getting a subscription for next year. They scoured through the magazine and were so excited by the pictures that they saw. It lent to many great discussions and learning activities for us in the classroom.

We are so grateful for your donation and really excited to have this magazine in our classroom so we can not only see pictures of things in the world that we would not generally ever see, but to read about it in context. I can't wait to use this tool in our room to give my students a worldly experience. Thank you!”

  • Learning Through Interactive Notebooks

    Funded Oct 18, 2013

Thank you so much for providing the supplies we need for our interactive notebooks! My students jumped up and cheered when they heard they received the supplies! They are especially grateful for the "neat" watercolor pencils and the gluesticks because they never used watercolors pencils before and they were in desperate need of gluesticks with all the glueing they were doing in their notebooks!

My students have been creating notebooks for reading, language, math, and science using the supplies you gave us. Whenever they learn something new, they write it in their notebooks and are able to go back to it and refer it to whenever they want. One student mentioned there are lots of pages to fill up and they think they're going to learn a lot and fill up all those pages this year. They have such pride in their notebooks and enjoy using them!

I am as equally if not even more excited about creating these notebooks with them. I can see their understanding of the content in their pages and am ecstatic that they are able to go back and reference the information (instead of always asking me whenever they forget!) It really does keep them accountable for their learning and it has been a great organizational project as well! Because the students will be able to keep them forever, their learning will always continue to grow!”

Thank you so much for funding my class with USB Jumpdrives! We are so excited to get them and use them for our daily work. I know the parents will be very glad to see the actual work their children are doing at school on those Jumpdrives, and become more involved in their children's education. Thank you!!”
