  • Library Excellence

    Funded Dec 7, 2022

Thank you so much for your donation. The students have been checking out Harry Potter books left and right. It continues to improve their reading and bring love to reading. The best part is having the rockers and stools for them to choose flex seating. This has caused the library to have a comforting place to read a book and give the students choice to sit around the library. They are loving our new seats.

I had also ordered blocks for my pre-k and kinder class. The students have been using the blocks for designing a setting from the book we just read. We have also used the blocks to work on fine motor skills.

Thank you so much for your donation. The supplies have brought love to the library and excitement to learn.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Yanuszeski

  • Time for Kids and Math Manipulatives

    Funded Apr 1, 2021

Thank you so much for the math manipulatives and Times for Kids. Being able to have the students use the math manipulatives to help them understand addition and subtraction in triple-digit numbers is very rewarding as a teacher. I love having students being able to physically take away 90 tens from 70 tens to help them understand why it works.

With Covid hitting the schools so hard, it was really hard to get books in the student's hands. Having Time for Kids digitality has helped the students read real-world experiences. We have been able to have deep discussions about what is going on in the world. I love that we can have them read at home the same articles, and collaborate with each other about our readings.

I will say the majority of my students love the news article. It's new and exciting, and they can have their computer open. Our class learns about different cultures and countries in the world. Now we can have different articles for them to read, and make text-to-world connections.

Thank you so much for your generous donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Yanuszeski

  • iPads to Foster Higher Learning

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Thank you for your help to get the iPads in our student's hands. The students took the iPads and made a iMovie to help get their message to parents about deforestation. The students were able to download pictures to the iPad and upload it to iMovie. They then researched information on deforestation and the cause it has on our environment. The students did a voice over on iMovie to showcase their findings on International Night.

Having the iPads was great for the students to get their message across. They love working together and making a movie of their project. The iPads helped with teamwork, but it was a great way for them to showcase their work to the school.

The iPads was great for my lower students, and shy students. Instead of speaking in front of an audience they were able to speak into the iPad. Every child was a part of this project, and was able to use the iPads to help them display their findings for deforestation.

Being able to have a new type of technology all students were able to participate in International Night.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Yanuszeski

In second grade, our focus throughout the year is to study the continent of Asia and integrate it into our literacy, technology, and geography units. My hope is to use iPads to bring the students closer to the continent through it's variety of applications, programs, and games available through the app store. Currently we have 1:1 Chromebooks in the school which the students use every day and are great for research, but they lack the ability to truly interact with the material through a more hands-on approach, which the iPads excel at. This is why I'm pushing for this donors choose project is because the school I worked at before had iPads available to 2nd graders. Student engagement when using them was very high, and their results throughout different projects was truly outstanding. That atmosphere is what I'm trying to recreate at my current school, but I need help. The iPads will enrich their learning within the classroom. One of the apps that the students will have access to is TouchCast.
