  • Curious Creators

    Funded Jan 6, 2020

Our classroom community is super excited to have our project funded! Thank you so much for your kindness. I know the students will be challenged to create some fantastic pieces with these new materials. I can't wait for the students to race to build in the Blocks Rock game. I can't wait to see their creations with Brain Flakes and Magnetic Sticks! Thank you for making a huge impact on their classroom experience! I can't wait to bring lots of smiles to many faces!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Woodfield

  • It's the Little Things

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

When I told the students in my classroom that our project was fully funded and we were going to receive the Echo Dot, bookmark timers, and flashlights, they could not have been more excited. Many of them were even jumping up and down. As soon as we received the materials, we started right away with flashlight Fridays. During Flashlight Fridays, students independent read as we usually do, but we shut the lights off, draw the blinds, and turn on the flashlights. It engages the students in their reading and you can hear a pin drop in our classroom during this time. The book mark timers are help students keep track of how long they read and we also use them for math fact fluency practice. The students can't believe how long they are actually reading! The timer is a motivator for some students as well. It helps them set goals to reach regarding how long they want to read each day. The students were most eager for the Echo Dot. We use this for so many things in the classroom. We use it to spell check, to answer questions we don't know the answer to, to roll a die, to time us, and so much more. It really makes every lesson so much more engaging. I am continuing to look for ways to use the Echo Dot, the flashlights, and the bookmark timers in our day to day classroom. One thing is for sure, the little things really do make a big difference. Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom!”

  • Listen Up!

    Funded Nov 29, 2016

Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. The new headphones and organization station for books has been so helpful to many students in the classroom. A listening center helps those students who would otherwise not be able to read higher level books on their own. It is a way to have students revisit different stories and think about them in different ways. It is also a way to have students collaborate and discuss different story topics and use different reading skills.

The students love the volume controls on the headphones and the fact that when you plug them in, it does not take long for them to work. Our old set had a lot of issues, so it is nice to see have a more updated set! My lowest achieving students in reading love this center the most because it is where they see themselves being most successful! Thank you again for the support you have given our classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Woodfield

  • Listening and Learning

    Funded Jan 23, 2013

Thank you ever so much for your generous donation to our classroom. The Ipod dock CD player has been a welcomed addition to our classroom. We use it practically every day to take brain breaks, help us with our reading and to continue to tune our listening skills.

I have had many CD players before this one that have needed repair and often it takes longer than expected to receive the resources that are needed back. With this newer, updated, Ipod dock CD player, I don't have to worry whether or not it will work on a daily basis. One less stressor is always nice! Listening and learning skills are very important to academic growth, especially for lower achieving students, and this will make the process of getting each student on track easier.

Without generous people like you, many of us would go without.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Woodfield

My students are a fine, intelligent group of eight and nine years who have a whole world to discover. They come from a school district, like many, that is working through these difficult economic times, but these students are oblivious to the uphill battle because they continue to want to learn. They are imaginative and intuitive and can't wait to tell you what happened to them the night before. They are excited to learn and just need their teacher to give them a variety of opportunities to do so.
