Let's Sketch! Tools to Create and Communicate Ideas and understanding.
Funded Dec 3, 2024I am moved by your kindness and generosity! The ability to provide art and supplies to my students is so appreciated. Creative opportunities are another way students can show their understanding of concepts and the world around them. Coming soon... sketches of scenes, nature, portraits, illustrations, diagrams...my heart is filled with hope and gladness.”

Supporting Students Is Sometimes Sweet, Salty, Soft, or Squishy
Funded Dec 3, 2024Oh my goodness it was thrilling to find that my project was funded. I provide a lot of verbal encouragement and positivity. Yet this project will give students choices as they select treats or prizes. It is so important to build on students' strengths, recognize growth, and celebrate accomplishments. Your donations provide positive reinforcement and thoughtful encouragement to students...who are the future.”

Science Readings, Resources, and Hands-On Investigations All Year!
Funded Nov 17, 2017What a generous and meaningful gift you have given! My project, a subscription to SuperScience magazine, has made quite an impact on my third-grade students. They anxiously look forward to lessons and learning in science, using the resource you made possible.
The SuperScience magazine issues have helped me teach engaging lessons that are connected to the Next Generation Science Standards and the Common Core State Standards. The nonfiction readings are important for students to comprehend, making meaning from text. The issue we just read brought students science content in physical science, engineering, and life science. We examined the variation of traits in animals. Within each issue, there has been an engineering design challenge. In some of the photos uploaded, students were designing and testing the best insulator for ice. This was a challenge connected to the physical science article, "City of Ice." Hands-on inquiry and problem-solving activities are in each issue. There is also a digital issue component of the subscription which includes videos and games connected to the articles.
I am looking forward to the March 2018 magazine, a special engineering issue. It is important for students to understand that everything is engineered and the skills needed for engineering (communication, collaboration, and creativity) are helpful in most careers. My students and I thank you for donating and bringing current, digital, and hands-on science into our classroom. Your gift will impact their view and interest in learning about science and engineering for years to come.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Werthwein
