  • Classroom Store!

    Funded Dec 9, 2022

In our classroom, we are loving the new items in our classroom store. The students are excited to do their jobs and assignments to earn money to shop at the store. An item that has been popular are the twistable colored pencils and the scented markers. Many of my students are not able to get these things at home and work hard to get them here.

When my students first saw all of the additions to the classroom store, they were excited to have more options and immediately began to make a goal of what they were saving to get from the classroom store first.

With these items that you so generously provided, we will continue to learn about earning money, budgeting, and saving for things that we want to get. These students have gone from just spending money each week to get something, to saving their money for something that they really want. All possible because of your donation.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Weiant

  • Classroom Store!

    Funded Sep 15, 2022

Since the arrival of our items for our classroom store, my students have been working hard to complete tasks and jobs to earn money. They have learned that buying things that are small every week will not allow them to save to get the bigger items that they want. We have been discussing why spending only part of what you get each week and saving the rest can do for them now and in the future.

When my students first saw the items that were going to be in the classroom store, they were very excited. We worked together to put fair prices on the items. Then, the students made a plan for how they were going to get the items that they wanted. We also took the time to create an account register to show them how to keep track of their money coming in and the money that they spend so they will always know how much they have in their "account".

Providing my students with the classroom store has increased motivation for students to complete assignments on time while also completing a classroom job each day of the week. We will continue to utilize the classroom store and learning how to manage money.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Weiant

  • A Place for Everyone!

    Funded Aug 25, 2019

Everyday my students are able to use this classroom carpet.

When we first got the carpet, the students were really excited to see all of the states and to learn what the pictures meant on each state. We meet on the carpet each day and the students will sometimes claim a spot on each state that they like.

I have had many compliments on this carpet. Especially when our Kindergarten buddies come in to our classroom to read with us. They all want to sit on the special carpet!

Thank you again for supporting my students and enriching their experience in my classroom.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Weiant

Flexible seating will allow student the ability to chose where they would like to sit in the classroom. This means that students are more comfortable and will be engaged in their work. Flexible seating gives students a new outlook on learning and allows them to pick up and move to a place that will meet their needs for concentration. Sitting in the same place everyday in the same chair becomes boring. According to an article on Edutopia, Kayla Delzer says, "ome of the immediate benefits (PDF) of flexible seating include burning more calories, using up excess energy, improving metabolism, increased motivation and engagement, creating a better oxygen flow to the brain, and improving core strength and overall posture." Students already have limited recess time and having the ability to burn some extra energy in the classroom will lead to more productive and engaging lessons.
