  • Praise for Pentathlon (Snacks for Smart Students)

    Funded Apr 13, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my Academic Pentathlon teams. My Pentathlete students are so thankful for having so many snacks for their Competition on a Saturday for over 9 hours. We actually won the SuperQuiz! Your donation will help reward everyone for participating on the team and show them that they are appreciated for going the extra mile. Again, thank you so much for helping our teams feel appreciated and recognized for their hard work all year. I wish all of them could receive a medal at the end of the year, but now we can at least appreciate their efforts. We appreciate your help. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carrie Wan

  • Help Us Keep our Classroom Clean and Well-Stocked!

    Funded Nov 30, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom. I always need new everyday items such as dry-erase markers. It is something I am always in need of and can never have too much. I also love having plenty of face masks for students who still need them. Schools are not really supplying them anymore, so I appreciate having them available. The industrial strength 3-hold puncher will come in handy with my Academic Decathlon and Pentathlon teams who need printed copies of their readings, which can be over 150 pages each! The plastic folders are for students to help them keep their subjects organized and the laminator will help keep important papers last longer. Lastly, thank you so much for your donation to help us have more disinfecting wipes. These middle and high school students can make the desks so dirty! We try to use them at least once a week. Thank you so much! I feel so supported by our community!”

  • A Book a Day Keeps Illiteracy Away

    Funded Nov 2, 2022

Thank you so much for your donation. My students are SO excited to have new reading books in time for going back to school! They love reading but have difficulty getting ideas of what to read, access to these books, and then to have enough time to read for pleasure. Now they get all three before Thanksgiving and Winter break. Our school's library is very small and closed often and the local library is shamelessly under-stocked. It's all brought to light as our school is trying to encourage reading for pleasure two days a week during homeroom and so many students don't have access to books they want to read. Now, both my reading shelves are full of books and the students are practically fighting over who gets to read them next. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carrie Wan

  • Help Us Keep Our Classroom Well-Stocked

    Funded Oct 26, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom. I always need new everyday items such as pre-sharpened pencils. It is something I am always in need of and can never have too much. I also love using colored pencils because studies show that drawing greatly improves student retention of a new concept.

I am especially appreciative of the new poster papers I can give to students for big projects. I don't like asking students to buy supplies when I know it's difficult for some of them.

Lastly, the notebooks, binders, and even heavy duty staples are for my Academic Decathlon and 8th grade Pentathlon teams. They have so many copied notes to read (put in binders) and notes to write (notebooks) that I need a heavy duty stapler in order to keep the papers together.

Thank you so much! I feel so supported by our community!”

  • Help Me De-Stress My Students!

    Funded Oct 7, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom. There has been more focus on the Social and Emotional Learning of students, so I feel this project will help support them better.

I've had motivational journals and anxiety support journals to give to students, but now I also have stress balls and new journals. They are always so grateful to receive these items to support them mentally and it is always a gift that is unexpected. They love that strangers feel they should be supported mentally and would donate to them. Lastly, the chew necklace is for a particular student who likes to chew on items in class but does not have a specified item for his chewing. He and his mom were so grateful for the necklace that I received an email later that day.

Thank you so much! I feel so supported by our community!”

  • Help Us Keep Our Classroom Clean & Organized!

    Funded Sep 9, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom. I always need new everyday items such as student-sized masks. It is something I am always in need of and can never have too much.

I am especially appreciative of the new sweeper vacuum for my floors. With about 150+ students coming through my room, the floors get dirty very quickly. I know the cleaner my room, the more students respect and appreciate it. That is also why I love having masking tape to use for things such as my whiteboard. It makes everything look clean and color-coded for each of my 3 different classes. Purple is for 10th grade World History, Navy Blue is for 7th grade Medieval History, Red is for AP U.S. History, and Teal is for my Acadeca and Pentathlon team.

Lastly, the lazy susans are great for organizing all my classroom supplies, such as colored pencils, pencils, pens, sharpeners, markers, highlighters, glue sticks, and scissors. Each section detaches and is great for students to grab and go back to their seats.

Thank you so much! I feel so supported by our community!”

  • Help Me Give Students Essential Supplies!

    Funded Aug 10, 2022

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom. I always need everyday items such as college-ruled notebooks, pre-sharpened pencils, and pencil sharpeners.

I especially can't wait to get the new pens because we do a lot of writing and I love having colorful pens that encourage more writing. We also use different colors for Jane Shaffer essay writing.

Lastly, I love being able to have disinfecting wipes on hand to clean student tables. They get very dirty and cleaning them every Friday isn't usually enough, so having a lot on hand is required.

Thank you so much! I feel so supported by our community!”

Our school is in a poor neighborhood. Many of my students have parents who did not complete high school or even middle school. Our students face many challenges, including gangs, violence, and poverty. I am amazed by my students' perseverance and resilience. I want to prepare as many of them for college as I can and see them be successful. My AP students are dedicated, hard-working, enthusiastic, and motivated students. These students are college-bound and really want to do well on the Exam. They know that college is expensive and want to minimize their costs in any way, which is one reason they are working so hard in class. Many of them have older siblings who tell them that the community colleges have more students than they can teach, and many students struggle to enroll in even one class. The more college credit they can earn in high school, the easier it will be for them once they get there.
