  • Help Us Keep our Classroom Clean and Well-Stocked!

    Funded May 7, 2024

Thank you so much for your donations to our classroom. We are in desperate need of disinfecting wipes and for more pencils, so those will be used first. Students are always asking for more folders and markers, so that will be next. Our classroom sharpeners are all in need of replacement since they no longer work. The students love seeing the new ones with cute emoji faces on them and apparently love the red ones with a kissy face. Thank you so much for allowing us to replace these much-needed supplies!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carrie Wan

  • Collaborate Tables

    Funded Feb 4, 2024

Thank you so much for donating to our classroom to help us get new tables for my students! These tables were not necessarily built for high school students, so many of them hit their knees on the tables and the edges are starting to degenerate and can cause splinters! Students have done their best to keep them from getting worse, but they are just too old even when I got them. Thank you for allowing us to replace many of them and I hope to replace all of them soon. It continues to make my classroom look like a warm and inviting place, rather than an uncomfortable place. Thanks!”

    With gratitude,

  • Accolades for Acadeca with T-Shirts

    Funded Dec 8, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my Academic Decathlon team. My Decathlon students will love having a new team shirt for their upcoming Objective Tests and will love wearing the team shirts during their SuperQuiz competition. Your donation will help reward everyone for participating on the team and show them that they are appreciated for going the extra mile. Again, thank you so much for helping our teams feel appreciated and recognized for their hard work all year. I wish all of them could receive a medal at the end of the year, but now we can at least appreciate their efforts. We appreciate your help. Thank you!”

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my Academic Pentathlon and Decathlon teams. My Pentathlete students are so thankful for having so many snacks for their Competition on a Saturday for over 9 hours. We won Pentathlon SuperQuiz last year so I hope we can again this year. Your donation will help reward everyone for participating on the team and show them that they are appreciated for going the extra mile. Again, thank you so much for helping our teams feel appreciated and recognized for their hard work all year. • Can't Hide That Cougar Pride!

    Funded Sep 12, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to this amazing project. It will help make our campus look gorgeous with these new chain link fence art cups that will spell out "Cougars" with a paw print in our school colors. Parents, students, and staff will love driving into our school and see it near our entrance. It will be something that no one else has and will allow us to stand out.

I was incredibly surprised to see it funded and will love seeing it put up as soon as possible. Thank you!”

  • Cool Students are Happy Students

    Funded Sep 7, 2023

Thank you so much for you generous donations to our classroom. The students were so excited to hear they're getting 10 more mini-fans to help them cool off after their outside activities. They come into my room dripping with sweat and my air conditioning can never get cool enough for them when its in the 90s or higher outside. I love seeing them play basketball, football, volleyball, and soccer before school and want to continue to encourage it. Students even told me that they couldn't afford to buy their own fans, even if they were only $5 - 7 each. So, thank you!”

  • Help Us Keep our Classroom Clean and Well-Stocked!

    Funded Aug 20, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donations to my classroom. I always need everyday items such as pencils and pencil sharpeners. They are what I am always in need of and can never have too much.

I'm especially appreciative of the Clorox Disinfectant Wipes. Students are already getting sick very often and I'd like to try counter-acting this by cleaning desks as often as I can.

Lastly, I love child-size face masks. Our district and schools keep promising enough masks but my students love playing basketball during lunch and somehow get their masks very dirty. They need to be replaced after lunch. I even have students from other classrooms stop by and ask for an extra one.

Thank you so much! I feel so supported by our community!”

  • A Book a Day Keeps Illiteracy Away

    Funded Aug 3, 2023

Thank you so much for your donation. My students are SO excited to have new reading books in time for going back to school! They love reading but have difficulty getting ideas of what to read, access to these books, and then to have enough time to read for pleasure. Now they get all three before Thanksgiving and Winter break. Our school's library is very small and closed often and the local library is shamelessly under-stocked. It's all brought to light as our school is trying to encourage reading for pleasure two days a week during homeroom and so many students don't have access to books they want to read. Now, both my reading shelves are full of books and the students are practically fighting over who gets to read them next. Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Carrie Wan

Our school is in a poor neighborhood. Many of my students have parents who did not complete high school or even middle school. Our students face many challenges, including gangs, violence, and poverty. I am amazed by my students' perseverance and resilience. I want to prepare as many of them for college as I can and see them be successful. My AP students are dedicated, hard-working, enthusiastic, and motivated students. These students are college-bound and really want to do well on the Exam. They know that college is expensive and want to minimize their costs in any way, which is one reason they are working so hard in class. Many of them have older siblings who tell them that the community colleges have more students than they can teach, and many students struggle to enroll in even one class. The more college credit they can earn in high school, the easier it will be for them once they get there.
