This classroom project was brought to life by Windows of Hope Foundation.Hands-On Learning with iPads
Funded Aug 28, 2013Thank you so much for your generous donations. My kindergarten students have been using the iPads daily for reading and math. They use multiple reading apps to help them develop their vocabulary, letter naming fluency, their letter sound fluency, and their beginning phonics skills. They are also able to access a website where they can hear books read aloud to them. During math students use the iPads in a center to work on a program called ST Math. These iPads have allowed students to have differentiated practice, as well as freed me to run more small groups in both academic areas. I am looking forward to also using these to help students publish their stories. When I told students that we were getting iPads, the looks on their faces were of pure joy. They were so excited. One student said, "WOW this is better than CHRISTMAS!" We cannot thank all of you enough. Thank you again!”

Using Technology To Become Life Long Learners
Funded Apr 5, 2012Words cannot express how thankful my students and I are. This technology has made a huge impact on their daily learning at school. All students get to interact with the Kindle Fires at least once a day. They use them for many things from reading, math, and for mental games. Students also get to take turns during choice time for good behavior by playing things such as angry birds, and watching penguins at the San Francisco Zoo. In reading students are able to listen to stories that they might not be able to read on their own, but can read along with the story. They also play games that strengthen their spelling skills, as well as their thinking skills.
Our Kindles are full of math applications. Students love to learn their facts by using the Kindles, and have also started to learn new concepts such as multiplication and division. Our new math curriculum also has an online math manipulative that many of my struggling students use to show their thinking in math. This tool has been invaluable for all of my students.
Thank you again for your support. My students have been blessed by your generosity. ”

Mrs. Walle
