  • Get Cozy With a Good Book

    We are all very grateful for your donation to our classroom project. If you could only see my kid's faces of excitement, as we opened the boxes with all the new books and materials, you would understand how important this project was and how much it meant to me.

    Reading is a big part of our day. Having books that teach our students how to express their daily experiences is very important to me. Many of my students have a lot of difficulty expressing their ideas and what they know due to lack of language. Most of my students' primary language is not English and to find the right materials including books for our age level is a bit difficult not to mention expensive. The Spanish bilingual books and materials you help fund for my youngsters have helped ignite my children's love for books even more. They can spend all day in the library area if I let them. Some of the kids have asked to bring a book home to share with their families and I think it's great. To have families come together before bedtime and share a good story while bonding and making memories that will last a lifetime, is one of the best contributions a teacher can give a student. Without your help, my students would have never had these vital resources that allows them to flourish. Our Heartfelt thanks to you!”

They are inner city, urban kids and most are low income class kids from hard working families. Growing up in a poor urban city is difficult no matter what age you are. When you are as young as my students every little incident can have a tremendous impact in their life. I want my students to concentrate on the good things that life has to offer. Recreating images of happy moments are memories that are unforgettable. Having a vast variety of choices of materials and supplies in the classroom will inspire my students to use their sensory skills by exploring and creating those life experiences the will be treasure forever.
