I would love to have the sets of these two books (The Boy on the Wooden Box and Four Perfect Pebbles) to use with my resource room students. Right now, the Language Arts teacher and our World History teacher are doing a joint assignment on the Holocaust. I try to choose books for my same students that will help them to fully participate in the experience and will be parallel to the assignment given. Most of my students read two to three grade levels below their respective grade and therefore are not able to have success in the comprehension of the book as well as to enjoy the process of reading. I joined Audible several years ago for two of my students and it has been a huge success at school. I own over one hundred books through the Audible site. We use the printed book and follow along with the Audible copy and it brings the book to life for these students. They hear fantastic narrations, are introduced to great characters and really fall in love with novels. It can bring history to life. I try to choose my books with the idea that I want my students to learn and gain knowledge about life, history, culture, and the idea that we, as people of the world, can be different and that difference should be celebrated and cherished; not looked down upon, degraded, or ridiculed. Only by knowing and discovering history can we make our tomorrows better.
