Engineers to the Rescue!
Funded Feb 3, 2022Thank you so much for your donation. This project has been one of my class' favorite. My students love using the glow in the dark magna tiles to write secret messages and watch them disappear. They have been practicing writing letters and numbers on the light up magna tiles using the led flashlight. My students enjoy using the magna tiles with wheels to create different vehicles. These have really enhanced our transportation unit and its amazing how many different types of vehicles they can create with the same piece. My students have been able to build homes and structures using the windows, stairs, and other home related magna tiles. This project has allowed my students' imagination come to life!”

Funded Nov 15, 2021It has been incredible to have such a comfortable and clean rug in our classroom. The rug in our classroom is part of many of our daily routines. In pre-k children do not sit in desks, they work in different centers throughout the day therefore the rug is really central to where all the learning takes place. All our whole group activities happen at the rug several times a day. Students love sitting on the new rug in a circle as we greet one another in the morning. They love sitting there when we have whole group discussions, when they turn and talk, and share with the class. Most of all they love to wiggle and dance and sing their hearts out on the rug.”

Funded Nov 15, 2021My students were so excited to receive the new easel! They immediately noticed it when it arrived and wanted to know where it came from. I explained to them about some amazing people who sponsored it and they could not believe their eyes. We have been using the easel on a daily basis since it came. My students really enjoy writing the letter of the week on it along with some pictures of words which begin with the letter. They love sequence the pictures of a story we read. They love to complete patterns we learn about by coloring with different dry-erase markers. They love to label parts of insects we learn about and ask questions. They love to create t-charts, KWL charts, ven diagrams, and even their own masterpieces! We really cannot be more grateful to you for making all these great activities a reality with this easel.”

Funded Sep 29, 2021I cannot express how much gratitude I feel to you and your support on this project. We have been using the materials from this project on a daily basis. Students use the small containers for their individual play-doh. Students have used the play-doh in numerous ways such as creating a person using the play-doh along with different body parts. Students have created a family member using the play-doh by shaping it. Students have been using the medium containers to store all their writing and drawing materials anytime they want to use any of their drawing or writing materials they can simply take their container out and use the materials. Students have been using the larger containers for their sand. Students love playing with sand during center time building structures and roads. This project has enabled us to use all the materials in a safe way by each students having their individual containers to eliminate the spread the germs.”

Funded May 24, 2021I cannot describe the joy I felt when I saw this project was funded. It was a bell of reassurance that even though in such a tough economic time there are people in the world who really care about my students as much as I do. When the package with the ink arrived, it sat on the side of the hallway on top of the radiators. I had not even noticed it when I first entered the building that day. Returning from outdoor activity, my eyes noticed the package and out of curiosity I decided to check if it happened to be ours. Once I saw my name, I knew it was for our classroom and I began to jump for joy in the hallway. Everyone can feel my excitement especially my students. I explained to them what had arrived and they started beaming with joy. Finally, we could print the pictures of students who had joined our in-person classroom.
But, I had to do more, someone across the globe or down the block had sponsored our ink. It was the end of the school year and I wanted to create something with my students which was truly memorable. Even though there were only a couple of weeks left, I decided to create an individual pre-k memory books for each of my students. I worked with each student choosing pictures from the year of their favorite lunch, center, theme, holiday, food activity, arrival time, time of the day, movement activity and the list went on. We printed the images and the students wrote all the text to their books, it was an unbelievable amount of work but, at the end of the year each student got a treasure of our memorable year, their personal pre-k memory book written by them with illustrations of them.”

Funded Sep 18, 2020This project has been really dear to me personally. In the craziness of the pandemic and the return to in person instruction, I was scrambling my head of ways to make it easier for my students. Adults had their lives turned upside down and trauma was on the rise, I was trying to figure out a way to make my students feel comfortable and at ease to return to school, all while wearing a mask. A lightbulb went on in my head and I decided if I could only make my classroom feel as cozy as my home my students would feel the warmth of the classroom.
Thankfully to all of you, my gracious donors this project became the reality. My students were able to feel comfortable in my classroom with a nice aroma from the oil diffuser. The natural wood frames of their family pictures. The beautiful art easels to display their work. The beautiful faux flowers blooming from every direction. Thank you for helping me make my classroom feel a safe and cozy place for all my students.”

Funded Aug 20, 2020Thank you so much for supporting my students and our classroom during these challenging times. My students have enjoyed the new resources during our in person and remote learning sessions.
My students have begun learning how to sew while strengthening their fine motor skills. At the start of the school year my students were learning remotely but luckily we were able to send some materials home and they were able to work on sewing the first letter of their name onto the burlap fabric. They were excited to use the new materials while reinforcing their letter recognition skills.
As the year has progressed we have been learning following the blended model. While learning about transportation my students represented their favorite mode of transportation by illustrating it on the burlap fabric independently, then they sewed their vehicles with various colors of yarn and plastic needles.
We also have enjoyed using the golf sized pencils as we went for walks on scavenger hunts around our school. My students love marking off the items they found as we walked around with our clipboards and pencils.
Thank you so much for your support in making this project come to life.”

Funded May 29, 2020Thank you so much for your support and generosity towards this project. This was a time of hardship and uncertainty for many of my students and having these resources allowed me to create instruction which was uplifting and meaningful for my students. My students were extremely excited to hear about some special people (that's you the donors) who had sent us such beautiful presents to enjoy and discover. They were eager to learn about the caterpillars and ladybugs during our live virtual sessions. They even went on scavenger hunts around their homes to see what other living creatures they can find. Some students were successful in finding some worms in their backyards. We studied the life cycle of our creatures and many students used pasta and labels to illustrate the butterfly lifecycle. Students also enjoyed creating caterpillars by stamping cups and drawing their friendly faces. This projects meant a lot to me and my students and I want to thank you for your support.”

Funded Nov 18, 2019Thank you so much for your generous donation to my classroom. My students were thrilled to receive the rug for our classroom. They commented on the softness of the rug and were excited to lay across and feel its softness.
We were particularly excited to practice various yoga moves on the new rug. We pretended to stand and sway tall as a tree. Students loved pretending to chop their claws as they moved as crabs across the rug. We loved doing yoga and movement on the rug. Students sang their favorite songs and danced at the rug.
Another highlight of having the rug, was having an area to read books together while sitting on a the soft rug. Students enjoyed sitting on the rug while listening to books and lessons.”

This classroom project was brought to life by PLUS1 and Beast Coast.Help! Thirsty Printer!
Funded May 15, 2019This project has truly impacted our classroom in numerous ways. The ink for the printer has allowed us to print and create different activities to enhance our learning. In our classroom we try to make learning fun and incorporate play based curriculum for our young students.
Students were eager and excited to learn about their names and their peers. In order to enhance the students learning we were able to print different letter pattern blocks for students to learn the letters in their names in a fun and interactive way. While working on the pattern letters students not only learned the letters in their names but also compared the different pattern blocks which made up their names.
Another fun topic we had been learning was our class pet, the crested gecko. We learned many facts about our gecko including his body parts and their functions. We were able to print the gecko's body as playdough sheets, where students constructed his body and discussed their functions.”
