  • Let's Create Exciting Learning Activities With Color!

    Funded Aug 15, 2024

Thank you so much for donating to our project. Your donation has allowed our classroom to have a color printer which has made a huge difference in what we can do for our students. Our students have benefitted immensely from your kind donation.

We have been able to create personalized social stories to help with behaviors immediately in the classroom. We are able to create individualized schedules and activities that meet the needs of our students. We have seen marked improvements in our students every day with the ability to print items that they need to be successful in class.

Again, I would like to sincerely thank you for your kind donation. We have been able to make numerous activities, individualized projects, and materials that our students need to be successful in class.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tugwell

  • Help Us Construct an Innovative Learning Area!

    Funded Jan 17, 2023

Thank you so much for your donation to our project. The students were so excited to help open the boxes when the materials arrived. Once we put the blocks together, it was amazing to watch them build and create!

We were reading 'The Three Little Pigs' when the materials arrived. The students quickly built houses and could be heard saying they would blow the house down! Watching them use their language and creativity in retelling the story was wonderful.

The tracks have been a favorite of all the students. The most amazing thing to see is how the students work to figure out how the tracks go together. Some students are able to create long and curving roads and quickly use cars to travel their roads! These materials have allowed them to use their imagination and expand their vocabulary! It has been amazing to watch them grow through play.

Again, thank you for donating to our class project. You have provided my students with new and exciting materials to help expand their learning!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tugwell

  • Help Us Bring Learning Into Our Homes

    Funded Dec 16, 2021

My classroom has been enriched by your donation to fund my project. Each month we receive new materials which enhance and extend our learning. My students have come to look forward to our lessons and have learned so much.

Each week, we introduce the topic of the lesson and the students eagerly sit and listen to the big book story in the group lesson. They are even more excited to take their own little book back to the table and complete the activity. We are able to give the students opportunities to track words while reading, learn new concepts, and practice their skills at home and at school.

Once the large and small group activities are completed, the children are excited to be able to take the book home and share the activity with their families. They are now eager to learn and share this learning with others thanks to your donation!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tugwell

  • Help Us to Learn at Home!

    Funded May 29, 2020

Thank you all so much for supporting my project to get learning materials into the homes of our students. When COVID-19 hit our area, our schools were closed and we switched to an all virtual learning model. With this immediate closure, we were not able to prepare our students with the needed materials for learning at home. We left on Friday and the schools were immediately closed that same day.

Our students did not have the materials to continue learning the needed skills at home. By your help funding this project, I was able to get the needed items to my students. Each student got a gift bag with pencils, scissors, 2 workbooks and a writing journal to continue to work on their fine motor skills and academic readiness skills. The workbooks provided learning opportunities supplemented by our daily virtual teaching sessions that we made available for all students.

We were able to only reach a few of our students virtually, so the addition of materials for independent learning make a huge impact for our students. They could continue to work independently on skills we had been working on during the school year. Many of my returning students come to our virtual sessions now with the same materials!

    Thank you!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Tugwell

  • Learning With Our Senses!

    Funded Dec 28, 2019

Thank you very much for supporting our project to provide our students with an opportunity to learn through their senses. The students were so excited to see the boxes in the room! Once we put the sensory table together, the students had huge smiles on their faces. I have not seen them so excited!

The students have enjoyed learning through play at the sensory table. They especially enjoy fishing for letters in the water to spell words. Each week we learn a new letter, and they get to go fishing to collect letters to spell words that begin with that letter. The match the letters to words I write on whiteboards beside the table. They also enjoy sifting through the sand to find letters and objects that begin with our letter of the week.

We have big plans for the sensory table. As the seasons change, so will our materials. In spring, we will use fabric flowers with letters for the students to spell. We also are planning to have the children to plant in play dirt, search through packing materials for colored objects, place colored ice in the water table, and once it gets warm we will place mini beach balls in the table. There are so many opportunities for our children to learn and grow through the use of the sensory table!”

  • Building a Love of Reading!

    Funded Nov 2, 2017

Thank you so much for helping our project to be completely funded! Our student's love to read and now with the new books and take home bags, they can bring reading into their home! Each child is able to select a new book from our lending library to take home every Friday for the week to read with their family.

The children are able to learn new reading skills each day and reinforce those skills with the lending library books. For example, our students are learning the parts of the book in class. Each time before we read a book we review the front cover, back cover, spine and title page. Many of or students will teach their younger siblings those same parts when reading at home. Our students are learning the roles of the author and illustrator as well. We include questions in our lending library books that allow parents and siblings to review these concepts at home as well. Lastly, we continue to teach rhyming in the class. Many of our books allow the children to explore and learn new rhyming words at home with their families too.

The children were so happy to get new books and take home bags to share with their families. It was such an amazing site to see all the smiling faces last Friday when they got to take the books and bags home! Your donation made a huge difference in their lives!”

  • Help Us See the Light!

    Funded Oct 5, 2017

The light table and accessory kits have been an amazing learning opportunity for my students! When I first set the table up, the students were so excited. They smiled and clapped as soon as I turned on the switch! When I showed them how to use the accessories with the table, they could not wait to come to the center.

Some of our students were able to stay focused longer when we used the table for letter activities. Other students loved building with blocks on the table and watching how the light filtered through the blocks. We have worked on color recognition and sorting with our new bright light table as well! The smiles on my student's faces made it even better!

We can not wait to continue to use our light table as our themes change throughout the year! For fall, the children used the table to look at leaves and sort them by color and size. In winter, we will be using the table to observe snowflakes! There are so many activities we can do now with the light table that we could not before!”
