Funded Dec 28, 2019Thank you very much for supporting our project to provide our students with an opportunity to learn through their senses. The students were so excited to see the boxes in the room! Once we put the sensory table together, the students had huge smiles on their faces. I have not seen them so excited!
The students have enjoyed learning through play at the sensory table. They especially enjoy fishing for letters in the water to spell words. Each week we learn a new letter, and they get to go fishing to collect letters to spell words that begin with that letter. The match the letters to words I write on whiteboards beside the table. They also enjoy sifting through the sand to find letters and objects that begin with our letter of the week.
We have big plans for the sensory table. As the seasons change, so will our materials. In spring, we will use fabric flowers with letters for the students to spell. We also are planning to have the children to plant in play dirt, search through packing materials for colored objects, place colored ice in the water table, and once it gets warm we will place mini beach balls in the table. There are so many opportunities for our children to learn and grow through the use of the sensory table!”
With gratitude,
