Help My Highest Readers Climb Even Higher!
Funded May 7, 2012Thank you so very much for supporting my classroom and my students! It is always a struggle to find books for the lower leveled students in class, but this year I have so many high level students and my library was just not suited to their needs at all! After receiving this grant, our library is now ready for my high readers to really dig in and feel challenged!
I am also thrilled that these non-fiction books will be able to teach my students all kinds of new things, and we will be able to read and refer to them not only during reading time, but when we are writing reports and how-to books!
Thank you again for supporting my highest readers, they will grow even more this year because of you!”

1st Graders Want P.D. Eastman Books, Please!
Funded Apr 26, 2012Thank you so much for this wonderful classroom gift! We opened our book box today and the students were so excited to see some of their favorite titles for us to keep here in school! Many students recognized the "Are You My Mother?" book, and the ABC books as well! They were amazed at the interactive books, and completely engaged by all the pictures and interesting titles!
When I shared which books were my favorite when I was little, they insisted on having read aloud at once, and were completely mesmerized with the stories!
They have become instantly attached to these titles, and to this author, and are newly motivated to read, read, read! Thank you so much for helping to make this happen for my students!”

Real World Heros Encourage the Hero In All Of Us!
Funded Mar 1, 2012Thank you so much for helping support our classroom with these amazing biography books! I cannot believe how generous and wonderful each of you are to have helped our classroom out in this enormous way!
We have the most incredible collection of books about heroes and inspiring Americans, from historical times all the way up to modern times. I love being able to refer to these books whenever questions about honestly, integrity, loyalty, or perseverance come up in our classroom meetings and discussions. We have also used many of the President biographies when we are studying coins, and many biographies to help explain and understand holidays.
My students really are enjoying each of these wonderful books, and I am thrilled that they know historical figures like Helen Keller and Amelia Earhart now! Thanks again for this truly wonderful gift!”

Funded Apr 21, 2012Thank you, thank you, thank you for donating to this grant! Water is such a simple, basic need, and something that I believe kids should have open access to. Now that each student will be able to have their own water bottle at their desk, they will be happy and hydrated and IN CLASS!
When I told my students about our getting this grant, they were so excited! I also told the Kindergarten class about it (who will be getting these water bottles next year when they move up to First Grade with me) and they were amazed at their luck! I think they feel very grown up thinking about moving up and having such special personal equipment!
Thank you for making such a big difference in my students' lives!”

Funded Mar 5, 2012Thank you so very much for donating to this grant! My class opened the enormous boxes this morning and were so excited to have whole new levels for our leveled library!! Before, our library stopped at level K, which is the ending 1st grade level. The problem with this is that I have several students who are reading on a level K already, and need to move onto higher levels.
Thanks to you, my highest readers will have the instructional materials they need to be able to keep on being my highest readers! They will be able to delve into chapter books and informational texts that will really challenge their skills and match their interests.”

Budding Young Readers Need Easy Chapter Books!
Funded Feb 7, 2012Thank you so very very much for the wonderful chapter books! My students were so thrilled to open the big box that came to our classroom and find SO MANY books that they could actually read!!
These books are a wonderful resource for my on grade level and above grade level students. It can be so hard to find transitional chapter books that are motivating for kids to read, and these have such engaging characters, such age-appropriate stories, and such enchanting pictures, that all my students are just clamoring to read them, share them, talk about them, and take them home to show their families.
Thank you again for this incredible gift!”

Big Fat 1st Grade Readers Want More Junie B. Jones!!!
Funded Feb 9, 2012Thank you so much for the wonderful books and pillows! Today is Valentine's Day, and the boxes with Junie B Jones and the pillows were the best Valentine my students got today! They are incredibly happy and have been enjoying the books excitedly for the last 20 minutes!
The kids are so happy to see all 27 of the Junie B Jones books, and are planning out which ones they want to read next. My grade level readers are reading aloud to some of their friends, and kids who are still emerging readers are looking at the pictures and telling stories about Junie together!
I cannot thank you enough for this wonderful gift to my classroom.”

Matter Matters! Help 1st Grade Learn About States Of Matter!
Funded Nov 29, 2011Thank you so much for these amazing resources!! My students were so enthralled opening the box that came and seeing hula hoops, balls, computer games, centers, and books- all about matter!
We started using the materials right away, and they really helped to reinforce the complicated concept of matter changing states with my first graders! Being able to play the computer game as a class and in small groups is a real highlight of the grant for the kids! They also love looking at the matter books, and re-creating our large-scale examples of atoms in different states with the balls and hoops!
Thank you again!”

Excited Young Readers Desperately Need Leveled Books!
Funded Nov 7, 2011Thank you so very much for supporting our classroom with this amazing non-fiction leveled library! My students were so happy when a box was delivered to our classroom, and even more excited when they saw there were books inside.
We pulled out each set, and as we were reading the titles of the Social Studies books, the students were making connections between the books and the things we are learning about right now- maps, globes, and making plans of rooms!
Then when we looked at the science titles, there were books for the states of matter, which are exactly what we are covering now! The same thing happened when we looked at the math books- we found money books, pattern books, and addition books!!
The best things about these library sets are that they match our learning topics directly, AND they are on levels that the students can actually read! This is the perfect set of books for my classroom! Thank you for making reading meaningful to my class of young learners!”

Breakfast Is Brain Food!
Funded Aug 19, 2011Thank you so very much for the wonderful classroom refrigerator! My students were so amazed when the enormous box was delivered to our classroom, and delighted when they found out what it was!
The fridge is small enough that it fits neatly under my desk, and we use it everyday to keep healthy snacks and drinks cold and safe! Students can now bring in yogurt drinks and snacks from home and keep them safe and chilly until lunch time. We are able to save fresh fruit from breakfast time and enjoy it later in the day for snack. And we are able to store milks and orange juices so that we have healthy and refreshing drinks as needed.
Being able to make healthy food choices every day has really affected my student's outlook on food and what it does for our brain and body. Thank you for helping us make healthy choices that support our learning!”
