Help Make Spanish Class More Colorful!
Funded Nov 6, 2023Thank you so much for your generosity and helping me acquire some of the materials I have needed to enhance my teaching. With your donations, I have been able to enhance the manipulatives that I use and consequently increase their engagement which has helped improve my students' retention. The HP printer has been an invaluable resource in creating these colorful tasks. The HDMI cable has been detrimental in having clearer digital content.
Also, the cleaning supplies have been very handy in the runny nose, sneezy, flu season. I created a sanitizing station accessible to every student and tissues are no longer an issue.
Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart and my students for helping us get our much needed resources!”

School Impacted by Hurricane Sandy Needs Document Scanner
Funded Feb 19, 2013The first floor of our school was destroyed by Hurricane Sandy. We lost everything from desks and chairs to dry-erase markers and compasses. We are trying to rebuild a school that took us years to create.
Our school was established in 2005 bringing together students from different backgrounds. Many students come from Far Rockaway and Breezy Point- two completely different neighborhoods. Together we have created a cohesive learning environment that allows all students to succeed. After 8 years of building a school from the ground up, we were severely knocked down by Hurricane Sandy. The first floor of our school was completely destroyed. For almost 3 months we were placed in a different location until our building could be restored. Students lost their homes, cars, and personal belongings. Many had to relocate and live with family outside our community. Although it has been, and continues to be a struggle to rebuild, we have maintained over 90 % attendance every day. Our students are dedicated to learning. They are extremely hard-working, strong, resilient, and caring young boys and girls. They have shown others what it means to be a Scholar at The Scholars' Academy.
After losing all our supplies on the first floor of our school due to Hurricane Sandy, we are trying to rebuild. Thank you for the document scanner. It has helped us in many ways. Mainly, it has helped the students have access to the assignments. With this document scanner I upload all the work on to our webpage and if they can not make it to school, its there and they can still do the work. It has also help the environment, because now we barely photocopy the assignments. The worksheet is available online and the students can complete it online and submit it via email.
Thank you so much for helping us with this transition and getting our instruction back together in an effort to help our students get back into normalcy.”

Thank you for the dry-erase markers, erasers, cleaner, and dictionaries, AP Prep books, staplers, pointer, rolls of fabric board backing, shredder, among other things. Students work collaboratively in groups every day and together, they learn. Having dry-erase markers and dictionaries and encouraging students to work together not only benefits their education, but it allows students to put aside their differences and work towards a common goal. Students learn how to interact with others from different backgrounds. The AP prep books have helped the students prepare for the upcoming Advanced Placement exam, with audio and reading comprehension tasks.
Thank you so much for helping us get our instruction back together and for helping out students get back into normalcy.”
