3D Doodling: Taking it to Another Dimension!
Funded Nov 13, 2024Thank you for supporting this project and helping me make it happen! These adventures (projects) are always fun and knowing that others can see the advantage in giving kids experiences to build their creative comprehension is exciting! 3D doodlers have a soft spot in my heart since many of my students who struggle with traditional art processes excel with this kind of option! I am thankful for you and can't wait to get to work!”

Funded Aug 9, 2018The canvas work was what took the show this year for fourth and fifth graders.
"What's your character?" color self-portraits project was a huge hit! After identifying character traits they associated those traits with color. Finally, they drew the self-portrait of their face and hair and continued to work their colors into their drawing. They could only use the colors that they identified their character with.
It. Was. Awesome.
The other canvas project we did was.. 'Let's Pour Over It'... a fresh start. Students traced their hand on the canvas, on each digit they listed a hurdle in their life. It was amazing to watch how personal they got and how they shared them with each other. After listing the hurdle, we listed the lesson. I acknowledged that some times things happen that should never happen to us but most of our hurdles hold lessons. Each student then identified what they learned from their own hurdles. We shared that with the class. It was outstanding to listen and learn. The students ended the project with a paint pour, covering the canvas all the way to the edges. The best comment, 'I feel better. Thanks.'”

Funded Jan 18, 2018I want to extend a heartfelt thank you for the support you have shown our students and our art room. The magnatiles have given another level to building concepts and understanding spacial reasoning in order to accomplish challenge tasks in class.
We have done a variety of challenges using them but one particular task was teams of 3 and the challenge was to build a bridge that would withstand the weight of an object crossing it. It was amazing to see the variety of bridges they built and how they would take the weight into consideration (or not remember that part). As I would roll the masking tape across their structures they held their breath and as the bridge would be successful or collapse there would be a loud 'oooooohhhh' at the end by all.
The magnatiles have definitely helped enforce the growth mindset and concepts of space!”

Mrs. Syd
