  • A Pop It Good Time in the Sandbox Reading!

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

My students are enjoying our new multisensory tools in our classroom during reading. Students come to my special education classroom because they are struggling in their regular education classroom. These sand trays have been a crucial addition because tracing on sand helps my students develop confidence in forming letters and words. So many of my students arrived at school this year, not knowing how to properly form their letters due to missing so much in school learning due to Covid. The pop its have also been a great addition because they help students isolate the sounds that make up words. The sand and pop its are allowing me to see exactly what they are doing, as well as provide an easy place for them to show and share their work. Although this is just one part of my reading instruction, my students are really beginning to master the new concepts.

Using the sand tray and pop its to connect the letter (grapheme) and the sound (phoneme) has been a great way to practice the link to spelling in a multisensory way.

Thanks to all your donations, you have helped to improve and increase student confidence and focus, along with increasing their academic achievement in reading.

My students, who entered my classroom and non-readers are now READING! They are able to decode the skills they have learned and could not be any happier. These students could not be any more grateful for your donations. We still have a long way to go, but you have truly made a HUGE difference in their lives. We cannot thank you enough!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

  • No More Cold Floor Issues and Plenty of Tissues

    Funded Aug 5, 2022

My students and I were so excited when the rug arrived. We placed it in the center of our classroom and have used it every day since. This classroom rug has helped to create a warm and inviting environment, where my students enjoy coming to school to learn. It has been a wonderful addition because it allows my students flexible seating options. Students now have a designated space to meet with partners and engage in small group center work. A classroom rug is where students learn and engage with both their teacher and their peers. We are truly so grateful for all of you who decided to donate to this project. We cannot begin to thank you enough. Also, a HUGE shout out to KLEENEX for matching every single donation. Because of you, we now have a wonderful new space to work within our classroom. THANK YOU!!”

  • IMSE Interactive OG Classroom Basics for Reading Success

    Funded Aug 5, 2022

I am so very lucky to have so many amazing donors that continue to support all of my students. We cannot thank you enough. The IMSE program is an amazing multi-sensory approach to reading that helps some of my lowest readers. My students are just beginning to learn the routines, but these products have already begun to make a difference. The students are much more aware of the individual phonemes that make up the words. I can see them tapping out each individual phoneme (sound) and have seen an improvement in both their reading and spelling skills. One students said "I can read now!". As a teacher, I am luckily enough to see these lightbulbs light up and see their pride shine through. We can not thank you enough for supporting our classroom. My students, their families, and I will see the impact you have made within our classroom.

    THANK YOU!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

  • Urgent Need for Back to School Supplies

    Funded Jul 1, 2022

Your generous donations have given my students all the school supplies they need to be successful students. Every student was given the same amazing materials, which made all students feel proud. The composition notebooks are being used to record their answers to texts. The highlighters are helping to teach my students to annotate and go back to find their answers in the passage. The pencil pouches are being used to help all students with organization skills. These supplies and other supplies are vital in achieving success within the classroom. We are beyond grateful because you chose to donate to my wonderful students. They work so hard every day and continue to strive to be their best every day!”

  • Games and Basic School Supplies in Grade 2

    Funded Feb 4, 2022

We take basic school supplies for granted until we run out within our classroom. Thanks to all of our generous donors, we now have some of the basic school supplies we need to run our classroom. We are able to sharpen our pencils instead of passing around individual sharpeners from student to student. The dry erase markers allow the students to work on their individual white boards. As a teacher, this is so important because it allows me to see who is getting the concept and who needs more individualized instruction. We are currently experiencing a paper shortage, so these have been even more valuable. The students are more eager to participate because they think it is more fun using the white boards.

April showers continue to keep us inside for recess. Now we have more games to play within the classroom. Guess Who, Trouble and Connect Four have been wonderful additions to our game closet. We can not thank you all enough for choosing to donate to our classroom. As always, you continue to make a difference in the lives of my students. I can not thank you enough!”

  • Learning Phonics is Magnetic

    Funded Dec 14, 2021

A solid foundation in phonics is necessary to learn how to read. My students desperately needed these magnetic wipe boards and letters so that they could learn how to build basics CVC and VCe words to strengthen their understanding of basic phonics skills. This multi sensory approach has helped to solidify their basic skills required to read. Students have been able to build word families by substituting a single letter to make a new words. They now understand that all the consonants are one color and the vowels are another and that words require both consonants and vowels.

One of the greatest days was when one of my students had that moment when they realized that they have learned to decode both CVC and CVCe words. "I CAN read now!" The joy and sense of pride that student showed was so touching. This activity is always a class favorite. I love seeing my students so engaged in learning to read and write.

We are so grateful that you have all donated to such a worthy project. These materials will be used year after year and help so many more students than the one just this year. Thank you for helping to change the lives in my students. I appreciate you!”

  • Comfy Students = Engaged Students

    Funded Sep 24, 2021

Covid-19 has changed our classroom landscape in so many ways. Thanks to your very generous donations, my students are able remain three feet apart and complete cooperative learning activities safely and comfortably.

Students are able to work in small groups and pairs. They are so excited when it is their turn to use these chairs. Along with other donations in the past, these chairs provide my students the ability for spread out within the classroom and complete their work without having to sit on the cold floor.

We can not do what we do in the classroom without amazing donors like you. You may not think it is much but it does mean all the difference to my students. They, like other students, should be able to have nice things to use within the classroom and because of people like you the do. We thank YOU!”

  • Bins, Bins, Bins for Organizing Resources

    Funded Aug 12, 2021

Thank you for donating to our classroom this year. Your donation has helped to create an warm and inviting classroom where students can access the materials they need and easily transport the manipulatives they need to their desks or work stations.

The book bins and storage boxes have helped to keep our classroom organized. The caddies are used at the student tables so that students do not have to constantly waste time searching for supplies. Each bin contains the manipulatives they need to complete independent task and are labeled with visuals so that students can find what they need easily and efficiently. Students have learned to take ownership of their own learning and have become successful learners thanks to your donations.

We can not thank you enough. The students truly appreciate the new materials and have learned how to care for all our school supplies now that they all have a place where they belong. It's people like you that help to change the world. Thank YOU!”

  • Back to Basics School Supplies

    Funded Jul 27, 2021

I would like to thank you for donating to my classroom. The Basic School Supplies projects has impacted our classroom tremendously. We can not thank you enough for your very generous donations.

My students use the clipboards in small groups and this allows them to work in teams or pairs while remaining socially distanced enough to meet any safety standards set forth by the CDC guidelines. Students use pencils and dry erase markers during centers while working collaboratively. The Kleenex tissues are used and greatly needed because our school does not currently supply these basic supplies or if they do they are of low quality.

Thanks to your generous donations, my students are enjoying the most "normal" school year they have ever had. We can not thank you enough for choosing to support our classroom. You have truly made a difference and we appreciate YOU!”

  • We Are Wiggling Back to School

    Funded Feb 3, 2021

Thank you so much for choosing to donate to my "We are Wiggling Back to School" project. Imagine being in second grade, trying to sit at a desk for five hours, and not being able to move around the classroom. That is what our current learning situation looks like. Covid-19 has changed our classroom from a fun place where students can work in groups and pairs to a traditional classroom of rows three feet apart. My poor students are expected to sit for up to five hours in their seat. IMPOSSIBLE!

Thanks to donors like you, my students now have the opportunity to sit on the wobble stools. These stools allow the students to move without the need to roam around the classroom. The students always ask who gets the wobble stools that particular day. The six wobble stools are assigned daily then cleaned and ready for the students to use the next day. They have been a wonderful addition to my classroom. My figety students are now able to move without getting themselves "in trouble".

Thank you for taking the time to support this project at such a critical time. I am so grateful that these stools will be able to be used for so many more years. Even during non-Covid-19 times, they will prove to be such a valuable resource. We appreciate each and every one of you! Thank you!!!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Thomas

My students come from diverse backgrounds in a high poverty district. Many come to our school not speaking English. They are not given some of the same experiences as other fourth grade students in other areas. Most of their educational home life is through television and some have computers with Internet. Many of their parents can not read, write, and some do not speak English. Given structure and a safe learning environment, our students thrive.
