A Place for Everyone Carpet
Funded Aug 16, 2023My class and I sincerely want to thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity. Your contribution made our dream of having a comfy spot for everyone, a reality! The moment the students saw their beautiful, brand new rug, they screamed with excitement as they jumped up and down around it! They did not want to step on it! LOL
The rug improved the flow of things in our classroom. Transitions are so much quicker now so we are able to maximize our time for each activity. The rug allows us to read books as a class, in small groups, with partners, by ourselves and sometimes with our reading buddies (stuffed animals). We get to explore Science concepts up close, like observing the butterfly life cycle. We watched our butterflies fly around the pavilion. We read and discuss articles about Social-Emotional Learning topics. We watch inspiring, educational videos together. Sometimes, we get to dance on the rug too! Fridays are fun on the rug with Free-Choice Friday activities, where we learn to collaborate with others. One of our favorite things to do is to have "Turn and Talk" discussions with our friends! We all love having a spot on the rug!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Huynh

Funded Aug 27, 2014Thank you so much for your support! With your generous donation, our class received a brand new, colorful, comfy rug to help make our hours at school a whole lot cozier! The students were so excited when I unrolled the rug. They were literally jumping up and down and rolling all around! Everyone loved it! They couldn't wait to start using it.
The rug has made a huge, positive impact on the students' learning time at school. They are thrilled when I call them to the rug. Whether it is coming together for Calendar Time, listening to a story, or using the projector to do some exercises together, the rug provides everyone with their own personal space. A lot of time is saved throughout the day because transitions between activities are a breeze now. Everyone knows where to go and they have their own comfy, spot on the rug.
With our new rug, students are also able to work in small groups for various activities. For example, they can work with others to use math manipulatives, play learning games or have pair-share conversations. Students also enjoy sitting on the rug while doing individual activities such as using small whiteboards, working with words or reading Raz-Kids on iPads. The rug also provides a physical guideline for students when they need to sit "around" the rug. This helps them visualize the space needed to sit so that they may see each other when we do whole-group reading with special books or our Scholastic News.
This project has helped my Kindergartners in so many ways. They are now more aware of everyone's personal space, they have developed cooperative learning strategies and are just physically more comfortable at school. When sitting on the rug for most lessons, it is important to have a nice, soft rug to sit on! Thank you again for your generous support!”
With gratitude,
Mrs. Huynh
