We have a class full of first grade students who love to read. This time set aside is one they simply enjoy. They also love to share and read their books with reading partners. Many of the children I teach do not have books at home. They are unable to read for their 15-20 minutes a day for homework and/or leisure because they don't have the resources. I also have ELL students in my classroom who would love to read to their non-English speaking family. For many of these students our reading time at school is the only reading time they have.
