These materials will allow for the standards to be taught in an engaging way. I already have huge plans for these materials. Students tend to be more attentive and retain information when they are engaged in the lesson.
It is important to create an environment that students want to come to everyday. These materials will keep students excited about school and keep them guessing as to what is to come throughout the year. Wouldn't it be amazing for a student to be so excited about school that they can't wait to get there?
Can you imagine students performing "surgery" during language arts? Students will wear the gowns, masks, and surgical gloves as they take apart sentences and fix the sentence structures.
When practicing close reading skills, students will "get their glow on" with black lights and neon sunglasses.
Students will use the microphone and disco light when sharing an important idea with the class.
Another activity involves black lights and spy outfits to decode text structures of nonfiction articles.
It is important to always keep them guessing, so they look forward to coming to school everyday.
Student engagement increases student achievement.
