  • Learning and Growing at Home

    Funded May 22, 2020

We are profoundly grateful for the materials your donation allowed us to purchase. These materials have been utilized to create individual learning centers for students both at in the classroom and at home. In a Pre-K classroom learning takes place when students engage in fun purposeful play, since the pandemic we have had to re-think ways of allowing true and meaningful teaching to occur while also following CDC guidelines and ensuring students' health is a priority. By creating learning centers and individual activity binders for each student we have been able to keep them safe and engaged while keeping the same fun, colorful, and exciting curriculum themes within our centers. Thank you for all you do for classrooms like mine!”

    With gratitude,

  • A Splash of Color Goes a Long Way!

    Funded Apr 24, 2019

We are thankful for your support in funding some essential materials for our class to bring excitement to our Learning Centers.

Through the use of the printer, we have been able to speed up the amount of time it takes for the teacher to prepare the activities related to the current class theme and subject. Which in turns allows for students to practice the various skills through a variety of different activities that aim to reach the objective.

Our students love Monday mornings when I introduce the activities for the week and present to them new colour-full and hands-on activities to complete and use for practice during Center Time and Small Group Instruction.

    Thank You!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sweeney

  • Yes! We can Learn to Code in Pre-K!

    Funded Apr 5, 2019

My students' faces were filled with amusement as they first got to experience the Coding Robots. They had never "played" with something similar before so they were thrilled to discover how they could program the Coding Mouse to reach the cheese wedge.

As they engaged in the coding activities my classroom was filled with conversations happening among each group. They were deeply discussing how to solve problems such as their robot turning left instead of right, or the robot stopping short from reaching the cheese. They were collaborating, using vocabulary, math skills by counting the spots they needed to move, and coding as they programmed the mouse.

We thank you for supporting our students' learning and the positive impact you have in helping to introduce them to coding and programming at an early age.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sweeney

In the new globalized world we live in, the demand for computer science and programming will only increase as the decades come by. Learning to code from a young age such as 4 years old set a foundation for developing the interest of students in coding and robotics. In the digital age we live in, learning how to code is no longer a luxury but rather a need. My students will highly benefit from using Botley the Coding Robot as they develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills that they will utilize across the subjects and for a lifetime. Given the shortage of computer science majors and programming professionals today, it is only in everyone's best interest to get our young students involved and interested in computer science. As parents and teachers, we must strive to give our children the tools they need to thrive in an entrepreneurial and innovation-led society. Coding toys are a fun way to begin doing this in a Pre-K classroom.
