The Magic of Middle School
Funded May 12, 2023Thank you so much for your donation to my project. All of the books that I requested are to help me develope my teaching craft. While I have taught elementary school for 20 years, I have only taught middle school for two years. I am constantly learning new things about the teenage brain, how middle school students learn best, as well as how to make their learning experience better.
I know I will use these resources for years to come. I have been using the Magic of Middle School book with another teacher as a book study. It has been so meaningful for both of us. I am excited to see how our learning will impact the students at our school this next year.”

Funded Oct 7, 2022My students loved learning these new stories and songs in the music classroom. On of my favorite books "There's a Hole in the Log On the Bottom of the Lake" was used for summer school this June. It was such a cute add-on song that ended with a big fish swallowing everything. The kids thought it was so cute. I also used a large parachutte for the kids to practice jumping little plastic frogs to the middle of the parachutte. I also made a larger than life frog out of an umbrella and tarp that we used to swallow up the campers.
I am so grateful that we were able to get these new items for our room. I know these books and resourses will be used for years to come. Thank you so much for your generous donation! I hope you enjoy these pictures of our classroom.”

A Rainbow Of Possibilities- Class Decorations
Funded Nov 29, 2022Thank you so much for helping us to get so many wonderful items for our classroom. The room looks more welcoming and inviting. I was able to put student rewards in all of the jars behind my desk with candy and prizes. I also used the ribbon banner and Pom Pom balls at the front of my desk. The kids loved it when I redecorated the room. I also love the Dolly Parton quote on the board as well as the words to Somewhere Over the Rainbow on the canvas. I just have a few items left to hang including the led lights around the bulletin boards around my room. I can't wait to see the reaction when I get the lights hung. This would not have been possible without your generosity.”

Funded Mar 1, 2022Because of your generous donation my students received materials for moving and dancing in music class. My students were able to do fun activities using racquet balls, yoga pose cards, and ribbon wands. I was able to assess student knowledge of music concepts. Your help has ensured that my students take an active role in the creation and exploration of music. As my students are moving and grooving and participating in new activities they have gained essential music skills. This has created a community of life-long music makers. I hope you can see the joy you have brought to my music room in our pictures I will post soon.”

Funded Apr 11, 2022We performed Seussical Jr. last May. One of my favorite memories was the school matinee. All of our K-5 grade students were invited to attend a live dress rehearsal of our show. I was backstage. The musical started with our Cat In the Hat on stage with the hat and Jojo. As the curtain opened and the entire cast started to make their way onto the stage during the song "Oh the Thinks You Can Think!" When the curtain opened you could hear an audible gasp of delight. There is no other feeling in the world. I remember the smile on every child's face and the proud look of every cast member. When you look your best, you feel your best. Thank you for helping to make our musical a success and giving our school these lasting memories and the opportunity to perform. You are a treasure!”

Awesome Books With Musical Hooks Part 4
Funded Mar 2, 2022My students were so excited to get all of the read-aloud books. I started my lessons with Skinnamarink and added actions to the song. Our PTO just bought us some new instruments so we have been using the book Beginners at the Bars to play music on our xylophones. The kids absolutely love this. They beg to play them and now I have books and lessons to teach them. I am have been planning weekly lessons with lots of the other books that you helped us get for multiple grade levels.
I will continue to these resources in the future and have been thrilled with the new books. Thank you so much for believing in my students and helping us get what we needed. You are so much appreciated!”

Funded Nov 30, 2021Thank you so much for the First We Sing collection. This collection has helped me introduce so many fun songs to my students. We are performing Bow Wow Wow at our kindergarten and 1st grade music program in a few weeks. For the program we learned the play party dance as well as the notes and rhythms.
I also did the singing game Little Sally Walker that I remembered from summer camps when I was younger.
Students have loved singing, dancing and playing instruments to several new songs across many elementary grade levels.”

Funded Dec 1, 2021My students were so excited to get all of the read-aloud books. I started my lessons with The Story of the Orchestra: The Nutcracker. Students learned about the story and then I worked on learning several of the songs. Students loved the Trepak Russian Dance as well as the Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy. We learned about the instrument the Celeste. I was able to use The Runaway Wok and Sam and the Lucky Money to celebrate Chinese New Year with my students. I also did a lesson called Can I Be Your Dog? for Valentine's Day. It was an adorable story about a dog who tries to get adopted. The book ends with him getting a letter from the mailman asking if she can be the dog's human. I am planning weekly lessons with lots of the other books that you helped us get.
I will continue to these resources in the future and have been thrilled with the new books. Thank you so much for believing in my students and helping us get what we needed. You are so much appreciated!”

Funded Oct 21, 2021My students were so excited to get all of the read-aloud books. After learning the cowboy music for our 2nd and 3rd grade music program we did the books C is for Cowboy and Cowboy Small. For Black History Month I did the book and music for Lift Every Voice and Sing with my middle school music appreciation class. We had great discussions and I was able to introduce my students to a beautiful Gospel song. Another favorite book with my music technology class was Your Name is a Song. After reading the book I had students visit Chrome Music Lab and they wrote their name on the Song Maker screen, and sent me their song link. I played each students name.
Here are two examples for you to play:
