Gardeners Need Garden Gadgets
Funded Aug 9, 2022Thank you so much for supporting my gardeners! The members of Garden Club have worked so hard this year to tackle the overgrown courtyards and beautify our school. They have loved having the extra tools! Their favorites are by far the pruning shears and loppers.
In the early spring, we pruned, weeded, and pruned some more! We were able to use our tools to weed and plant our seeds and herbs in our newly created tire flower beds this week. I can't wait to see what it looks like in the fall full-grown! Thank you so much!”

Funded May 10, 2023THANK YOU SO MUCH! It has been a whirlwind of a week with our Open House and Book Fair. We were able to display and share the awesome Makerspace projects that students created this year, and I can't wait to share these funded materials with them next year! I'm so excited to see what the students create with the new Makedo materials. I'm hoping that the new "Scrus" will help cut down on the tape that is used and wasted in the Makerspace.
Can't wait to share these! Thank you for your support!”

A Craftsman for Organized Creativity
Funded Jan 23, 2023THANK YOU! THANK YOU! I am so excited to receive our new Craftsman Mobile Workbench! The tools will be so much more accessible in their new workbench home. The wooden top is going to be the perfect place to use hot glue guns and other tools. I can't wait to get it here and start organizing! Thank you so much for supporting our Makers!”

Funded May 3, 2022Thank you for graciously supporting my students in purchasing shelving units for the Makerspace! They have made a huge difference in helping to organize long term projects, especially since six classes can come through per day - that's a lot of projects to keep organized! They fit perfectly into the space and really helped to maximize storage potential.
The Makerspace is an area that many students enjoy coming into. Helping to keep the space and student projects organized, will continue to provide students with a positive experience and help expand their creativity and problem solving. Thank you for supporting my Makers!”

Funded May 28, 2020Thank you so much for supporting my students in acquiring Keva Building Sets for the classroom! These sets will be used for years to come to encourage critical thinking and teamwork to complete challenges. Now is the perfect time for the new building materials. After months of online learning, students will be eager to use their hands to build challenges and work their brains! I can't wait to see what my students come up with!
THANK YOU!”

Funded May 5, 2020Thank you SO much for helping get much needed gardening supplies into the hands of my student gardeners! I had an enthusiastic group of gardeners this year, and many of them will be returning next year. I know they will be thrilled with getting more hands-on gardening experience and less waiting for someone to be finished with a needed tool. I’m so excited to get back with my students and plan for our next projects! Thank you!”

Funded Apr 7, 2019Thank you so much for supporting our classroom in gaining balance sets and a scale. I created this project after finding we were in need of these items to get hands-on experience with mass. I knew that they would be utilized for at least one specific lesson, but found we were able to use them in unexpected ways as well. The scale came in handy when measuring to see the amount of salt added to a salt-water solution. The scale was also used during our pendulum unit to find specific mass of a hand-made pendulum base. The mass of the pendulum would allow students to create a more well-constructed experiment and find more reliable results.
Each balance has its own storage box and will be well taken care of for years to come! Thank you so much for supporting my students and classroom!”

Fresh Air Equals Fresh Ideas
Funded Nov 27, 2018Thank you so much for helping to make our outdoor space become a reality! Due to so much rain and fast growing grass this spring, it took awhile to find the right time to work on the new corner for the benches. I wanted to create a special area to house the benches when they were not in use to protect them from being surrounded by weeds and becoming a mowing obstacle. Students will then be able to sit on the benches in the corner, or move them around the courtyard to work.
The students were so excited to help while building the benches. They used life skills of reading directions, teamwork, and using a screwdriver while constructing the benches. We weren't quite done when lunchtime rolled around, and they asked to work on the benches during lunch! Yes! Students were engaged and wanted to see the project through to the finish.
The birdbath looks great and will house many feathered friends in the coming years! The Shepard hooks are currently holding bird houses donated by another teacher and were made from recycled license plates. They look so great!
Future plans for this space include another raised flower bed and some bird feeders made by the Garden Club in the fall. This space will be used and enjoyed by the students for many years to come! Thank you for your generous donation and investment in our current and future students!”

A Lemonade Mixture of Success
Funded Apr 16, 2019Last night was Open House, and I couldn't be prouder of the lemonade products that my students created! It's all thanks to you for funding this wonderful opportunity for my students to apply their knowledge learned in science to a real world experience. THANK YOU! Students created 3 trial recipes of their lemonade using just sugar, lemon juice, and water. There were many funny faces made during the trials due to too much lemon or sugar! Each group then changed amounts in each trial until they found their "perfect" recipe and converted their measurements to make a quart of their lemonade to share. Student groups named their lemonade companies and created a logo that was added to their lemonade pitcher.
Students were engaged and energized while working on this project! Some created their logos on their computers at home, and one group actually brought in fresh squeezed lemon juice from home! I'm so proud of the effort students applied and how excited they were while working. I heard many students share that, "This project is so much fun!" Parents and students alike enjoyed sampling lemonade at Open House. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. I know this is an educational experience that my students will not soon forget. THANK YOU for helping me deepen my students understanding of mixtures and solutions!”

Worms Up Close and Personal
Funded May 1, 2018Thank you so very much for supporting our project, Worms Up Close and Personal. The worms are thriving in their classroom composter. The students have enjoyed feeding the worms and then seeing the effects the worms have on the food a few days later. Apples are the food of choice for our classroom worms! The worms have even been able to be shared with other classes in the school. We say that the worms are going on a fieldtrip!
The courtyard composter is setup in our courtyard and ready to begin making compost! I'm hoping to create a raised garden bed in the spring where the composter can be kept long term. For now, we are adding what we can to the composter until it is moved to a permanent home in the spring. The worms will also be added to the outdoor composter and raised garden bed when the weather turns warmer! The compost made will be used by the school's garden club as they care for the plants in the courtyard.
This is an experience that my students will not soon forget! Thank you for the support of my class to study worms up close and personal!”
