Students in my Math and Science classroom need headphones during class while I am providing small group instruction to groups of students. The rest of the class will be utilizing their headphones while focusing on their virtual based instructional intervention programs. These programs provide each student will an individualized academic pathway that will build onto their current knowledge. The use of these programs assist the teacher in closing achievement gaps by bridging grade level content to the students' individualized level.
The district doesn't provide headphones and the families can't afford headphones that withstand daily usage. I do not want students to be distracted by various lessons and sounds playing aloud to the whole classroom simultaneously, this prevents the students from being able to focus on their own lesson. There are some children who work at home with multiple siblings or a childcare setting where there are over fifty other students in the background.
The STEM materials are to enhance the content and extent of my Science lessons. The children's critical thinking has to make a comeback from the effects of the pandemic. Getting the students access to hands on materials and projects is vital to their cognitive growth.
