  • Ipads Enhance Learning

    Funded Aug 5, 2019

These iPads have allowed my students to work at their independent levels and their own pace. They get to create and record little film shorts as well in order to explain their thinking when answering daily questions. They love using them during centers time and small group work on activities such as phonics, sight words and reading. It doesn't stop there they also get to do math activities too. They all love having a chance to work on them, I wish I had enough for each individual student to work on. They just can't get enough!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Spano

  • Growing With Technology in Kindergarten!

    Funded Jun 2, 2019

The Chromebook has offered the children access to online resources and helps engage students with interactive lessons. In today's age, computer literacy is an integral component of any student's learning plan, and they love using it to work on certain skills they need. The best part is they can touch the screen to interact with it and are not discouraged by feeling the need to use the keyboard when working independently, especially when they find the use of the keyboard or mouse-pad intimidating for 5/6 year old. Thank you for giving my students the opportunity to be able to work independently on skills while being engaged!”

  • Starting the School Year With the Basics!

    Funded Dec 22, 2018

My students get to use the materials during centers time and during small group instruction. They loved the daubers and enjoy searching for sight words, letters of the alphabet, numbers and so much more! The binders are used during guided reading as supplemental materials that they can write on and wipe off with as they use the dry erase markers we received to do their work. The smiles on their faces is priceless! Thank you for your support and giving our class these materials so we can continue to learn and have fun in Kindergarten.”

  • English Language Learning Fun!

    Funded Aug 23, 2018

Thank you for your donation to our class. The materials we received helps provide the children with tangible objects that they can hold and use especially when having discussions with each other. They also get to see actual images to help expand their vocabulary and knowledge of real life surroundings. Some of our students do not realize the everyday places they walk by in their own community have a purpose or what it is until it is pointed out to them. Our students are expanding their vocabulary little by little everyday and it is a joy to see them get excited when they can relate to what they learn. They love working together to use the centers as they learn together, the cards are helpful when having discussions and used in their writing. Our students are always excited to use the materials and look forward to using them everyday.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Spano

  • Playing With Literacy Centers!

    Funded Mar 27, 2018

Upon arrival of our materials the kindergartners couldn't wait for me to open the boxes as I explained what was inside. This project has given my students a chance to interact and socialize with each other as they learn and reinforce their literacy skills. Working on worksheets and in textbooks, doesn't give them the chance to work together, and learn from one another the way they do through the centers. They get so excited every time we get ready to work with our centers and never want to stop working with them. Thank you for bringing my students so much joy as they learn and practice their literacy skills.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Spano

I teach in a Title 1 school in the Bronx, NY where all of our students receive free breakfast and lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Many of my students come from a single-family household and are faced with many daily challenges both inside and outside of the classroom. My students are an inquisitive, curious bunch of Kindergarteners who are eager to learn, and work very hard! From the minute they walk into my classroom my job is to not only teach them but to make their day a memorable one. I want them to leave my class on a daily basis thinking "learning is fun!"
