  • How to Learn Math!

    Funded Jan 27, 2019

The 'How to Learn Math for Teachers' online courses has given me a renewed love for teaching math conceptually. These course have helped me implement strategies to help students think mathematically about open ended problems. The courses also help teachers and students learn about new brain and learning research.

The Mathematical Mindset books have wonderful resources that I am able to use with my students to help motivate them to be mathematical thinkers. Students have worked collaboratively in open ended math problems and engaged in conversations, exploring mathematical problem solving strategies.

At least once a week, my class would begin the day with a 'Number Talks'. This helped students strengthen their ability to break down numbers and develop number sense.”

  • Germ Free Classrooms Make for Healthy Students!

    Funded Feb 28, 2019

It has been quite a brutal winter, with more snow than we have had in quite a few years. Although the snow was much needed moisture, the harsh winter has let to various viruses and the dreaded flu.

The Clorox wipes arrived just in time. I was able to share them with other teachers at my grade level. My students now have the daily routine of wiping down desks, as soon as they come in to class each morning. This has resulted in a drastic change in student absences.

The large bottle of sanitizer has been placed by the door and students and adults alike are seen walking up to it several times during the day.

The moisturizer and vaseline have been a welcome relief for students, as our winters tend to be extremely dry and harsh. Thank you all for helping create a safe and welcoming classroom environment for my students.”

  • Basic Organization for STEM Clubs!

    Funded Feb 28, 2019

During the last few weeks, my Robotics Club has traveled far and wide to compete with students from across the state, nation, and world. The storage bins we received have been a blessing, as we have traveled from one competition to the next. Each team was assigned one or 2 boxes, based on the size of their robot, and this has helped keep my classroom organized.

The flat folding luggage cart is extremely helpful when it comes to transporting multiple boxes from school, to competition locations. It folds flat for storage, and takes up minimal space, when not in use.

My class loves the fluorescent light filters in my class. They have really helped students sensitive to the harsh fluorescent lights. The students also enjoy using the storage caddies to organize materials for their table groups.

I am so grateful to all the donors who contributed to this project.”

  • Wiggle, Twist, Turn and LEARN!

    Funded Feb 1, 2019

Thank you so much for helping us gradually convert the seating in our class. My students are so excited to receive the 6 extra wobble stools. As we begin to get more flexible seating options, my students have been very responsible in picking the seating that best meets their needs. These 6 new wobble stools have now provided each student with the flexible seating option they prefer. They no longer need to wait two days for their turn to use a wobble stool.

The wobble stools have also been excellent as a space saving, seating option. Students are able to sit comfortably around a bean table during small group instructional tile, with much elbow room to spare.”

  • Wiggle, Twist, Turn and Learn!

    Funded Dec 10, 2018

Thank you for your generosity in helping provide my students flexible seating options.

The ball chairs were a hit from the moment they came in. This flexible seating option has been ideal for students who require the flexibility to move around during instruction. I have seen an increase in student learning and engagement. The automatic ball inflator has been extremely helpful and students who use the ball chairs are now proficient in using it when needed.

The calming cushions are an excellent option for students who do not like the ball chairs or wobble stools. The cushions are the perfect option to turn our hard plastic chairs into a comfortable seating option.

Thank you once agin for helping my students be better learners.”

  • Stand Tall to Succeed!

    Funded Jan 17, 2019

Thank you for getting us the Sit or stand desks. I'm slowly trying to create a flexible seating environment in my classroom, and so far, the one sit or stand desk I had was the most sought after option. The additional three desks will provide my students the option to meet their learning needs, while continuing to focus on getting their work accomplished. Now that I have the additional 3 desks, students are able to use them to collaborate and work in small groups.

A BIG Thank You to all the donors who made this possible for my students.”

  • Wiggle, Twist, Turn and LEARN!

    Funded Jan 18, 2019

Thank you so much for helping us gradually convert the seating in our class. My students are so excited to receive the wobble stools and the Portable Lap Desk/Laptop Stand/Writing Table. As we begin to get more flexible seating options, my students have been very responsible in picking the seating that best meets their needs. I hope to get a few more of the wobble stools for my students to use during small group instruction. This will allow students more elbow room, while meeting their needs to wiggle and move around while learning. The lap desks are very useful when students are working on the floor with their chromebooks. It also allows them to be able to write neatly while working in small collaborative groups.”

  • Stand Tall to Succeed!

    Funded Dec 11, 2018

The standing desk is a wonderful addition to our classroom. Several students need to be able to get up and move around, or just stand for a while. The sit or stand desk is ideal for students with special needs and accommodations. The fidget pedal is a subtle way for students to enhance focus, and it promotes natural movement, while allowing students to continue working.

I am so glad that my students are being afforded multiple options for seating, to accommodate their diverse learning needs. THANK YOU for believing in and helping my students be good learners.”

  • What a Voluminous Idea!

    Funded Dec 3, 2018

The centimeter cubes have made it so easy for my students to visualize volume of irregular rectangular prisms. I have a set of centimeter cubes, but it is really hard for students to manipulate and balance them when modeling more than 3 layers. These cubes have helped my students easily create irregular 3D shapes to understand volume.

The liter cubes have helped my student make the correlation between volume (as a liquid) and capacity by seeing that 100 ml of a liquid is equal to 100 cubic centimeters. This is a very complex concept to explain to 5th graders, and these manipulatives have made it so much easier to do so.

Thank you for your generosity and investment in the future of our students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sharma

  • Bringing Nature Into Our Classroom!

    Funded Sep 28, 2018

This project has truly brought nature into our classroom. The three terrariums have been the cause for much discussion. Students have been quite fascinated by the carnivorous plants and they constantly flock around this terrarium. The "STAR" of the terrariums has got to be the giant beetle. This is one of the live organisms that was introduced to our forest floor terrarium. The red worms and sow bugs got diverse reactions from the students, but these are now all part of the growing ecosystem in our classroom.

The additional support materials have been a big help in conducting several science investigations in class. Students love putting on their gloves and masks and conduct experiments like 'real scientists'.

Thank you so much for helping fund this project. Please feel free to share other projects on our class page with family and friends.

Happy Holidays and THANK YOU for all you do for our students.”

    Mrs. Sharma
