  • Future Engineers ROCK the Design Process!

    Funded Oct 9, 2020

It is always amazing to see student's creativity come through when provided with an open ended task. My students used these materials to create an ankle foot orthosis for a child suffering from cerebral palsy.

Students were so creative and innovative, given the constraints of working from home. They came up with thoughtful and innovative designs, using the Design Process to collaborate and improvise their designs , within the given constraints.

Students were allowed to keep the extra materials at home to allow for some extra creativity and fun, while continuing to aspire to be 'engineers'.

Thank you for bringing a smile to my students during these trying times.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sharma

  • Digital Electronics for Future Electrical Engineers!

    Funded Sep 27, 2020

I cannot express what a difference these Arduino take home kits have made in the lives of my students. As we have been in a virtual learning environment for almost a year now, by students crave opportunities to work on hand son activities.

My students have learned so much and been so creative while learning about digital electronics. I am so grateful for this opportunity you have afforded my students. They are engaged, interested, and showing creativity while completing various tasks and activities.

Thank you once again for your generosity and kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sharma

  • Building Bridges and Cars While Becoming Financially Literate!

    Funded Sep 20, 2019

My students have had the opportunity to finally use some of these materials. We have had to modify some of the original plans and we have not been in school for almost a year now.

Some students were able to use he wood dowels to build structures as part of a different project. Though we have not been able to build the bridges and cars as originally planned to test the strength of various bridge designs, the students enjoyed using the materials to create a city in the future.

I am, as always grateful for the generosity and kindness of donors like you, who support our students.”

    Mrs. Sharma

  • Simple tools to make Mathematics FUN!

    Funded Jan 21, 2020

Thank you for providing my students with these basic math tools which made a world of difference in the short time period they were able to use them.

My student shad just received and begun using the Dry Erase XY Axis Graph Lap Boards 9"X12" Math whiteboards (Double Sided White Boards) and Erasers in the Algebra I class I was teaching, when we moved to virtual learning.

At the end of the year, when I surveyed my students about the class, the majority of them mentioned that they loved working in groups, in class, using their whiteboards. This reminded me of the little things that we can provide our students with to meet all learning styles and help foster a love for Math.

The graph paper was provided to any student who needed it for homework and classwork and made a tremendous difference to help students work neatly, producing minimal errors.

Thank you once again for supporting my students.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Sharma

  • Microbits for Future Programmers!

    Funded Oct 14, 2020

My students are I are so blessed to have generous donors help us continue with hands-on learning, while continuing with 100% virtual school.

My students absolutely LOVE the microbits. They learned the basics of Python programming, prior to getting the microbits to take home, so instead of the more traditional block based programming, they are using an actual programming language to program their microbits.

In the accompanying pictures, you are getting a glimpse of their first project, where they had to program their microbits to 'show an animation'. We saw everything from happy faces, to sad faces, check marks to an X, and even a stick figure performing jumping jacks.

Thank you for continuing to invest in the future of our children and keep the love for STEM alive!

    Much gratitude and appreciation.”

  • Dual Monitors Double Virtual Learning Experiences!

    Funded Oct 27, 2020

There aren't enough ways that I can say THANK YOU!

This project has made such a HUGE difference in my efficiency while teaching virtually. I am able to use my laptop to have my zoom class screen on, and I now have two additional screens to monitor and help my students navigate online platforms, during synchronous learning.

I am also able to switch from one program to the other and drag tabs over to my shared screen. This helps be be better organized and have all the information I need to share with my students in the short time we have together in an efficient and seamless manner.

Thank you once again for your generosity!”

  • Engraving Success!

    Funded Dec 5, 2020

Thank you for adding one more tool to our Engineering classroom. My students are eagerly waiting for me to demonstrate different ways we can incorporate our latest addition to their future projects.

As we continue to navigate online school, these are the little joys and glimmers of hope that I offer my students to keep them motivated. My students are already planning the various projects they would like to use the Dremel Multi tool in.

This diverse and well made tool will help my students to learn one more Engineering skill, which will hopefully open more career opportunities for them in the near future.”

  • Welcome to Our Circuit Playground! (Part 3)

    Funded Oct 8, 2020

Thank you for your generosity and willingness to invest in the future of our students.

The Circuit Playground is a small microcontroller boards with LEDs, buttons, and sensors built in. Designed specifically for novice programmers, the Circuit Playground enables students to get up and running quickly with physical computing without worrying about many of the traditional barriers to entry.

We are currently in the process of preparing these devices and accompanying accessories to send home with students in the upcoming semester.”

  • Welcome to Our Circuit Playground!

    Funded Sep 28, 2020

My students and I are so grateful for the Circuit Playground class sets that this project has brought to our classrooms.

These small microcontroller boards with LEDs, buttons, and sensors built in are designed specifically for novice programmers. The Circuit Playground student packs will enable my students to program, and tinker with digital electronics concepts almost as soon as they take these devices our of the box.

We are currently in the process of preparing these devices and accompanying accessories to send home with students in the upcoming semester.

My students are middle through high school students embarking on their first Engineering experience. They are enrolled in several STEM courses where they will explore several aspects of Engineering, Design and Modeling using CAD is one of the Modules. Our school is a PLTW (Project Lead The Way) school. PLTW is an Activity Project-Based curriculum that will allow my students to explore various STEM career pathways, by working on projects. Our school is an exceptional 7-12 grade public charter school. Our students come to us from all walks of life: free and reduced-price lunch, English Language Learners, special education needs, and gifted student population.
