  • Enhancing Financial Literacy for Second Graders

    Funded Sep 23, 2024

I wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude for your support of our financial literacy project. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to purchase essential materials like printer ink, book bins and school stools that have made a tremendous impact in the classroom.

The printer ink has allowed us to print engaging financial literacy worksheets and activities that help my students develop important life skills in budgeting, saving, and making smart financial choices. The book bins have kept our literacy centers organized and accessible, fostering a love of reading and learning in each child. The new stools have transformed our classroom environment, giving students flexible seating options that promote focus and collaboration during our lessons.

Your contribution has enriched our learning space and enhanced the overall educational experience for every student. We are so thankful for your support in making this possible!”

    With gratitude,

  • Classroom Basics for my 2nd Grade Buddies

    Funded Aug 20, 2024

I am writing to express my deepest gratitude for your generous support in funding our classroom project. Thanks to your contributions, our classroom is now equipped with essential supplies that have already made a tremendous impact on my students' learning experience.

With the new materials, I've been able to create a more dynamic and interactive learning environment. For example, the art supplies you provided have allowed my students to express their creativity during projects, fostering a deeper connection to the lessons. The new organizational tools have helped us maintain a tidy and efficient classroom, making it easier for students to focus on their work. Additionally, the basic supplies, such as dry erase pockets and zipper pouches, have ensured that every student has what they need to participate fully in our activities, regardless of their circumstances.

These resources have also enabled me to introduce new teaching methods and activities that engage students in a variety of ways, catering to different learning styles. It's truly heartwarming to see their excitement and enthusiasm each day as they explore and learn with the tools you've provided.

Thank you for believing in our mission and for playing a crucial role in our classroom's success. Your kindness and generosity have made a lasting difference in the lives of these young learners, and I am deeply grateful.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. S. Garofalo

  • Teacher Made Resources for The Remainder of the School Year!

    Funded May 6, 2024

Thank you, thank you, thank you! Words can't fully convey my deep appreciation for your generosity in supporting my classroom.

I've already started adding a variety of resources to my cart to benefit my students. I'm discovering new and innovative materials, including math centers, spiral ELA worksheets, reference guides, social-emotional activities, and intervention tools. I've purchased and laminated activities that are visually engaging, socially and emotionally targeted, and academically motivating (check out my photos! My students are so fortunate!). I've also begun creating teacher-models for my students to use as references after lessons. Looking ahead, I hope to acquire more printable graphic organizers, as well as digital lessons and activities.

The students at my school are such creative, curious, and inquisitive learners. While we can't unbox these resources together, I know they will value every task and activity purchased. The resources I've acquired so far promote everyday problem solving, creativity, and analytical and critical thinking skills. They are engaging and colorful, and the digital activities include interactive pieces that I know will be a huge hit with my students.

The support from Donors Choose has been incredible; I feel so blessed that this project was funded. Especially during this time of need and growth, thank you so much!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. S. Garofalo

  • A Kidney Table for Collaboration & Kindness

    Funded Oct 17, 2023

Thank you so much for donating to our Kidney for Collaboration project. The students and I are using the new kidney table as an area to conduct small group learning and also collaborative group work throughout the school day. Just the other day, the students were working at the kidney table in partnerships to find the author's purpose in a text!

The students were so excited when they saw a big mystery box appear in the back of our classroom. They were even more excited once it was set up at the back with our wobble stools. Students squealed with excitement and noted about how much more room they had at this new table. They are very intrigued with the shape of the table and love to sit around it!

Our next classroom project at the back table will be a literacy project. I am looking forward to many more days sitting at that kidney table with my students. Thank you so much for your kind contribution to our classroom.”

  • Classroom Basics for Class

    Funded Jun 17, 2023

I am so incredibly honored that you chose to help fund this project for my classroom! It is so humbling to know that there are others out there who believe in supporting public education! With this project, my hope was to obtain as many resources as possible to help create an organized classroom this fall. Because of this grant, I was able to make birthday bags for my students and organize my classroom supplies in a way that is accessible to all students. I am also very excited about the snacks, as that will be my new prize box this year! I will fill my candy jar with those snacks to help motivate my little learners. In addition, the crayon sharpeners will be a great addition to our classroom. We will no longer have to toss out old dull crayons, because we can just sharpen them to make them like new!

I cannot thank you enough for your support. I am truly so excited to utilize all these new resources in the months to come. Thank you again for your generous donation! It is so incredibly appreciated!!”

My students come from a wide variety of ethnic and economic backgrounds, but they all have they same desire to learn. They are an inclusive group of both general education students and special education students who have a range of needs and learning styles. Many of my second grade students are active learners who enjoy learning through different mediums - visuals, videos, the use of manipulatives, movement, and engaging lessons.
