Students on the autism spectrum sometimes experience sensory overload. I would like to provide a space in my classroom where my students can go when they are feeling overwhelmed. I believe that if my students know that there is a quiet and safe place to go in their classroom it would be really beneficial. The couch will provide a somewhat safe place for the students to sit in and feel comfortable. I have already a created a "door" using PVC pipes and a shower curtain, for easy access. The sensory toys will give my students tactile to do while sitting in the Zen Den!
