  • Snacks for Scholars

    Funded Jan 26, 2023

Seeing the looks on the students faces receiving the snacks was priceless. The students have a very late lunch and many do not eat until 1:45. Students cannot concentrate sitting in their classrooms without a break and on empty stomachs. Some students do not even eat breakfast and are very hungry by lunchtime. We all know when kids are hungry, they cannot concentrate. Having a small snack allows the kids to take a little break and fill their bellies! Thank you very much for your generous donation that lasted the students for 4 months. We really appreciate it!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Scheffler

  • Printing for Projects

    Funded Jan 26, 2023

At my school, we have struggled to make projects engaging and eye catching because of the lack of copiers and printers in my building. We are fortunate to find a copier or printer that prints clearly or even at all. A color printer is literally no where to be found. Having a color printer has allowed our students to take pride in their projects. They are proud to present their bright and appealing color printed projects. We have also used the printer to print out flyers and posters for our school. Thank you so much for your generous donation!”

  • Fueling Brains Throughout the School Day

    Funded Jan 28, 2022

The look on the students faces when they saw the snacks was priceless. They were so excited to see some of their favorite snacks. When the students found out that they did not have to almost 5 hours without a snack they were relieved. We have found that the students are so much more attentive in class now and are just overall happier during the day. Since all students have a snack now it makes them all feel like they fit in since some of them are not able to bring in snacks on a daily basis. Thank you for helping relieve our students of one less stressor they have.”

  • Math Fluency Kit

    Funded Nov 6, 2018

Our students at Sheridan have been using the math fluency kit during number talks at the beginning of their math lesson. The cards that come along with the kit that show the activities and how to support our students with those activities have been a huge help.

The students use the rekenrek to support their mathematical thinking. They are able to build numbers up to 20 and solve equations up to 20 using the rekenrek.

Although this kit is geared toward 1st grade, we have many learning support teachers using it with their students as well.

Thank you for this generous donation!”

  • Let's Rock Out The PSSA!

    Funded Dec 8, 2014

Wow! Where do I start? I cannot thank you all enough for your generous donation to my fourth graders. My students received their test prep books in order to get ready for the PSSA. The test prep books went over everything the students needed to know for Math, Reading, Social Studies, and Science. Having supplies like this makes it more efficient when going over what the students are expected to know for the test. We completed the PSSA two weeks ago. During the test, students were extremely focused and seemed more confident than in past years. This was due to having the materials they needed in order to succeed. Thank you for all you do for education and our students. Together we can help our children succeed!”

  • Discovering the World with Non Fiction!

    Funded Aug 24, 2014

Wow! Where do I begin! My fourth graders eyes lite up when I introduced their first Scholastic News magazine. They were even more impressed when I showed them videos on our smartboard to go along with each magazine news story. Having a subscription to Scholastic News has allowed my students to be informed about the world around them. They love the fact that the news is also geared towards kids and is at their reading level. Scholastic News incorporates Science and Social Studies so it makes planning on my part even easier with these great resources. These magazines keep the students engaged while keeping them informed about the world around them. Thank you so much off for supporting my students!”

  • Basic Supplies to Get Through the School Year!

    Funded Mar 6, 2014

When I revealed to my students that we had received a donation of classroom supplies their faces lit up. We had been struggling for months without needed paper supplies and basic supplies to do educational activities everyday. They are now able to do more fun activities and extension activities with the supplies.

My students have become much more engaged because they are now able to be more creative in their work. They love to use the craft scissors to add an extra touch to their arts and crafts. Due to school district cuts we no longer have art class so the students use the glitter, paper, and scissors to fulfill their creative side.

Thank you sincerely for helping me get through the school year with needed supplies but most of all thank you for helping my students have a great year!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Scheffler

  • Art Supples To Help Us Create Interactive Notebooks

    Funded Dec 27, 2013

Finding out that my project for art supplies was fully funded was such an overwhelming feeling for me to take in. My students do not have art class and due to a lack of funds from the district we were not supplied with much for the school year. When I told my students about the supplies, they were so excited to have art in the classroom. The kept asking when we going to do an art project!

I was able to start using the art supplies and other materials to create the interactive notebooks. The students take pride in creating and personalizing their own interactive notebook. An interactive notebook focuses on students taking teacher notes on the left side of the paper and students putting their own notes/drawings/thoughts on the right side of the paper. This enables them to be creative and have a personalized textbook to look back on.

I cannot thank all of you enough for the support and donations you have given to my classroom. It brings me great joy to know their are so many people in the world that support public education!”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Scheffler

Being in a Title 1 school, all my students are underprivileged and come from low income homes and they don't come to school with needed supplies. The school district cuts have been tremendous this year and we have no supplies. Teachers have spent hundreds of dollars so far on basic supplies like paper and pencils.
