I teach 5th grade in Spooner, Wisconsin. My school is a rural school with approximately 440 students in grades 5-8. Over 50% of our students qualify for free or reduced-price meals, but together our community, parents, and staff work to get everything we need. Our school is the center of our small community, one that loves our students and only wants the best for them. I have a variety of ethnic students most coming from low to middle-income homes and with cuts to funding, there is no money in our budget for anything outside of basic supplies. They are definitely a lively bunch of students ready to learn and help each other out.
