  • Engaging Minds With QBall

    Funded Dec 29, 2017

Thank you so much for giving my students with amazing throwable microphone! The QBall has made all the difference in my classroom. My students are so excited to participate and share what they know. During literacy and math, my students are searching for answers and looking for proof in case their number is selected by another student. My quiet talkers who were too shy to be heard even love the QBall!

With the Qball microphone ball, students hold the Qball in front of them and the sound quality just right. It operates through our classroom computer speakers that are already in place. Students can now be heard wherever they are in the room by whomever has the Qball. I don't have to say over and over "Big voice!" or "Speak loudly!"

Thank you for making our classroom lessons more exciting and fun! It wouldn't have been possible without your support!”

  • BIG BOX of Books for Readers!

    Funded Feb 10, 2018

Montgomery Family Foundation, Uncle Jack and Cyndi, thank you so much for you donations to our classroom. My student absolutely love the books and hey make the perfect addition to our classroom library. My students were so excited for the new books that we decided to make a few more projects for higher level reading books! My students have grown so much as readers that our classroom library can't keep up. Thank you for helping to provide higher level texts for my students to challenge them and help them grow as readers. Your kindness has truly helped my students strive to be the best they can be!”

  • Diversity Through Literature

    Funded Dec 20, 2017

Your books have been a HUGE hit with kids! They have loved reading them from cover to cover. One of my students called me over to show how The Princess and the Warrior is about how two mountains came to be formed. Another boy was so excited to read about sugar skulls in the book Funny Bones. This is the story of how the Day of the Dead came about, and this young student is Hispanic. One student even brought in a little chocolate skull to show the students! You have really gotten our kids excited about reading!”

  • Organizing Our Classroom Library

    Funded Jan 14, 2018

Thank you so much for making this possible for my students! Having a new place to store our books is so helpful! The levels of the books are easy to see and the student had a much easier time find their level book today. We keep our books sorted by reading level and the cubies are perfect for each reading range! As I was placing the books back on the shelves the studies couldn't want to get to the shelves to explore. We used to think we had a lot of books in our classroom. Seeing our books stored this way, my class has decided they want more books to read and fill the shelves of our library! So tonight, I will be creating projects for more books, which is NEVER a chore! Thank you for bringing about this unexpected need for more books from my students!! I know I can find books that will pique their interest!”

  • Keeping Our Focus on Academics and Fun, Not Hunger!

    Funded Dec 18, 2017

Quill, John and David, thank you so much for bringing this project to life. My students were thrilled to see the boxes of snacks coming into our room! When I knew we were doing to have snow days, I was able to send students home with a bag of chips to make sure they had something to eat over break. Students who have come in late and missed breakfast also know they can come to me and ask for snacks. This has been such a huge success in our classroom, I know when we run low I will have to create another project!! Thank you so much for all you have done for my classroom. You have made an everlasting impact in my class!”

  • Our Goals: Understanding and Encouraging Diversity, Living Tolerance

    Funded Nov 29, 2017

Thank you so much for providing our lass with these amazing texts! My students were so happy to see these books come to our classroom. They are circulating to each student as they get their turn to read each of the stories. The Cheshire Cheese Cat and What Elephants Know we will be reading as read aloud throughout the school year as soon as we are finished with Oliver Twist. We took a vote and our next story to journey with will be What Elephants Know. When you read a summary to your students and it starts out with the main character being raised by a pack of wolves, is later found by a man with one arm who cares for animals and his mother is now an elephant, that is sure to grab their attention! They were very torn between that and the Cheshire Cheese Cat! A cat who doesn't like mice, but LOVES cheese? They were quite amused! I had to promise to read one after the other.

The Potato Chip Champ has become a classroom favorite. The feeling my students get when understanding the background that Walter comes from as they take a journey of understanding with main character Champ.

They love seeing the Arabic signs of protest in Hands Around the Library, fighting for their freedoms. They were amazed the story took place not so long ago. I am constantly hearing, "This reminds me of..." when my students read this story.

Freedom in Congo Square is a clear winner! The beautiful illustrations and story telling/poetry of Carole Weatherford tells of amazing Sunday moments when freed and enslaved people could briefly gather in Congo Square, New Orleans, Louisiana. They rejoiced with music and song, sold goods, and also shared vital news of the times. This sad time in American history has some beautiful stories we often share as a class to show how far our nation has come and how we must still continue to change to understand diverse cultures and people.

Thank you Gloria from Reach Out For Schools and my Anonymous Donor for making this project possible for my classroom. These books which are the embodiment of diversity are truly out of this world amazing!”

  • Working Our Core While Reading!

    Funded Oct 18, 2017

Thank you so much for helping to change the atmosphere of my classroom! My students love sitting on Runtz chairs! My students were so excited when they arrived. They knew exactly what the boxes were and couldn't wait for them to be put together. These chairs really help my students during the day. They are able to move around, spin and bounce while learning in whole group, small group and collaborating together. My students look forward to coming to my back table to be able to sit in these comfy chairs.

Thank you for helping to make my classroom a more student centered environment.”

  • A Colorful Cafe of Learning

    Funded Nov 26, 2017

Thank you so much for making this project happen! My students could not contain their excitement when the big boxes arrived in our classroom. They knew I was up to something yesterday when I told them I was going to wait to open the boxes until after school. When my kids arrived this morning they were amazed at our brand new ottoman chairs, coffee table. I had to make sure they all got a turn to sit at our new seating area. They love their bright colors and how comfortable they are. The new decor and student excitement livens up our classroom!

The new fluorescent light colors are amazing! We are able to see our board much clearer than before. We no longer have to work in darkness and students can see the board at all times of the day. They keep our classroom a nice calming blue hue. When the other classes walk by our room they want to know why our classroom is glowing blue!

Thank you Aunt Dianne and Uncle John for getting the donations started on a project my students absolutely love! Uncle Jack and Cookie thank you for keeping the momentum going for our new seating arrangement. Cathe and Demetria your continuous support has made such an amazing difference in my classroom! Janet and the Vargas-Ray Family, thank you for pushing our collaboration station and light covers across the finish line! Thank you for showing my students the perfect example of selflessness and caring. My students and I wish you all a holiday season full of happiness and love!”

  • Creating Good Character Through Meaningful Literature

    Funded May 8, 2017

My class and I have just finished reading The Name Jar today. My students have said this was their favorite book we have read so far! My class also welcomed two new students this week! I feel this has helped them transition into our classroom as they could definitely relate to the book.

My kids loved the story Unhei has to tell about her new experiences in America. My students learned a few new things about each other's culture, and we even created a Flipgrid informing our classmates how our parents chose our names! We used The name jar to learn about character traits, describing different characters in the story by analyzing their actions, words, thoughts and feelings. We also discussed character motivations. My students learned a great deal by reading this amazing, content rich text.”
